Abstract

This invention relates to the field of electrochemistry, specifically to the preparation of a novel anode material for sodium-ion batteries. Traditional soft carbon precursors such as low-capacity pitch and petroleum coke are activated to transform them into high-capacity, long-plateau porous core-shell carbon materials. Pitch and petroleum coke, as bulk products of the coal and petrochemical industries, are abundant and inexpensive compared to hard carbon precursors such as wood, resin, and sugars. Using pitch and petroleum coke as precursors, an activator is introduced, and high-temperature activation is performed under an inert atmosphere. After complete activation, the material is washed, dried, and then subjected to a second high-temperature carbonization to obtain the porous core-shell carbon material. The prepared material exhibits high specific capacity and excellent cycle life. Furthermore, the preparation process is simple, with low carbonization temperature and high carbon yield, effectively reducing production costs and demonstrating promising application prospects, thus promoting the industrialization of sodium-ion batteries.
