Abstract

This invention discloses a method for preparing an ethanol extract of *Pterocarpus santalinus* flowers and its application in lowering blood sugar and blood pressure, providing new resources for the development of natural hypoglycemic and hypotensive products in the medical and other fields. The ethanol extract of *Pterocarpus santalinus* flowers in this invention has been demonstrated to have good in vitro and in vivo hypoglycemic effects through in vitro α-glucosidase inhibitory activity assays, in vivo hypoglycemic effects in a zebrafish high-glycemic model, and Tg(ins:mCherry) transgenic zebrafish β-cell proliferation experiments. Furthermore, it can significantly inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme activity, achieving a blood pressure-lowering effect. Therefore, the ethanol extract of *Pterocarpus santalinus* flowers of this invention can be used to prepare hypoglycemic and hypotensive drugs to treat and prevent diabetes and related chronic diseases, while also making full use of *Pterocarpus santalinus* flower resources, which is of great significance for improving public health. This invention utilizes abundant plant resources, has low development costs, and significant economic benefits.
