Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a computer system configured to actuate a pitch motion stabilizer, the computer system comprising processing circuitry configured to: obtain operational data indicative of a maximum operating frequency of the pitch motion stabilizer, the maximum operating frequency is indicative of the ability of the pitch motion stabilizer to suppress pitch disturbances acting on the marine vessel; setting a low-frequency pitching motion range and a high-frequency pitching motion range of the marine vessel, the low-frequency pitching motion range being a frequency range lower than the maximum operating frequency of the pitching motion stabilizer and the high-frequency pitching motion range being a frequency range higher than the maximum operating frequency of the pitching motion stabilizer; obtaining ship motion data indicative of an amount of pitch acceleration of the marine ship within the high frequency pitch motion range; and reducing the pitch angle of the marine vessel by controlling the pitch motion stabilizer in response to an increase in the amount of pitch acceleration of the marine vessel within the high frequency pitch motion range.
