Automatic gain control for ultra-high order modulation
By adjusting the receiver gain using tracking reference signal (TRS) in a wireless communication system, the problem of ultra-high-order modulation support in the noise channel is solved, and the signal-to-noise ratio and data transmission efficiency are improved.

Abstract
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In general, the described techniques provide for adapting or considering receiver gain when ultra-high order modulation is used for data transmission. In one aspect, a network entity may transmit a tracking reference signal (TRS) in a first time slot temporally adjacent to a second time slot allocated for one or more data transmissions associated with high order modulation. A user equipment (UE) may receive the TRS, and may adjust receiver gain based on the TRS prior to receiving the one or more data transmissions associated with the high order modulation in the second time slot. In another aspect, a UE may indicate a type of timeslots (e.g., shortened timeslots) or a maximum number of timeslots in which a network entity may transmit data transmissions at a high modulation order (e.g., based on a receiver gain at the UE).
