This invention discloses a traditional Chinese medicine composition and preparation method for treating chronic constipation. The composition comprises Eucommia ulmoides, Clematis chinensis, Aster tataricus, Atractylodes macrocephala, Magnolia officinalis, Poria cocos, Codonopsis pilosula, Citrus aurantium, Cynomorium songaricum, Cistanche deserticola, Cassia tora, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis. This invention addresses the pathogenesis of qi and blood deficiency or chronic constipation by rationally combining herbs according to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to achieve the effects of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, warming and tonifying the liver and kidneys, replenishing kidney essence, regulating lung qi, strengthening the spleen and replenishing qi, and drying dampness and promoting diuresis. This allows for the generation of body fluids, nourishing the intestines, and promoting smooth qi circulation, thus restoring the function of the large intestine. This provides an effective treatment for constipation, especially chronic constipation in the elderly or those with qi and blood deficiency.
