Hydraulic cylinder sealing device

Abstract

A combination of a seal and a wear guide (18) for use in a hydraulic cylinder (10) provides a sealing engagement between a piston rod (12) of the hydraulic cylinder (10) and an inner circumferential surface of a rod end of a cylinder barrel (14) of the hydraulic cylinder through which the piston rod (12) is axially movable. The combination comprises: a cylindrical metal wear guide (360) for seating within a first annular groove (361) formed around an inner circumferential surface; a cushioning seal assembly comprising an annular cushioning seal (350) cooperating with the annular support ring (352) for seating within the second annular groove (351); a U-shaped cup seal (340) for seating within the third annular groove (341); a cylindrical plastic wear guide (330) for seating within the fourth annular groove (331); and a three-lip dust ring seal (320) comprising three annular lip portions (322, 324, 326) for seating within the fifth annular groove (321).
