Method of forming reel and related roving frame

Abstract

The object of the present invention is to provide a method of forming a reel on a roving machine (1) for processing a web and forming a roving wound on the reel. A roving machine is provided with a drafting device (10) for forming a roving from a web and a flyer-spindle unit for winding the roving into a reel. The method involves applying an initial twist (Ti) to the fibers exiting the drafting device (10) and entering the flyer-spindle unit at the start of roll forming and applying a final twist (Tf) at the end of roll forming. The method involves providing at least one step of increasing the twist during a change from the initial twist (Ti) to the final twist (Tf). Advantageously, the method makes it possible to reduce the thread breakage occurring during the step of winding the reel without affecting the production speed of the roving machine.
