Abstract

This invention relates to a biomarker for the early diagnosis or prediction of infectious complications of acute pancreatitis. The invention evaluated the predictive ability of plasma KA (kavaginal acetate) for the occurrence of IPN in patients with acute pancreatitis. The results showed that the AUC of KA in predicting IPN in the validation set of patients reached 0.805, exceeding the AUC of APACHE II and IL-10. These results indicate that plasma KA can serve as a highly effective biomarker for the early prediction of IPN in patients with acute pancreatitis.
