Message transceiving application with dialog filtering

Abstract

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a system for filtering conversations. The system generates, by the messaging application, a plurality of shortcut options for display, each of the plurality of shortcut options including a corresponding filtering criterion. In response to receiving an input selecting a given shortcut option of the plurality of shortcut options, the system retrieves filtering criteria associated with the given shortcut option. The system searches for a plurality of conversations to identify a subset of conversations that match a filtering criterion. The system generates a plurality of representations of an identified subset of conversations in which one or more messages have been exchanged between the user and one or more friends of the user for display along with the plurality of shortcut options.
