The invention discloses a terminal box system and a fault detection system and method for the terminal box system, and the system comprises a plurality of current detection devices, the first end of each current detection device is used for connecting a terminal box, and the second end of each current detection device is used for connecting a system assembly corresponding to the terminal box; the system assembly comprises a plurality of working terminals connected in parallel; the background processing device is respectively connected with all the current detection devices; and the background processing device is used for receiving the reference working current and the real-time working current from the current detection device, and sending alarm information according to the reference working current and the real-time working current. The fault detection system can automatically identify system components with faults in the terminal box system, manpower is saved, meanwhile, the installation mode of the fault detection system is simple enough, the working conditions of thousands of working terminals on site can be conveniently monitored without executing great modification in the original terminal box system, and the fault detection system is efficient and accurate.
