The invention relates to the technical field of wheel rim lifting, in particular to a lifting appliance for wheel rim vertical lifting operation and a lifting method, and the lifting appliance comprises a lifting hook (1) and a lifting frame (2); the hanging bracket (2) comprises a sleeve structure; a lifting claw structure is arranged on the sleeve structure; an adjusting structure is arranged on the lifting claw structure; the lifting claw structure is connected with a wheel rim; the lifting hook (1) is connected with the sleeve structure; the hanging claw structure clamps the protruding part of the rim of the outer diameter surface of the wheel rim so as to stably fix the wheel rim; the sleeve structure can be mounted on the lifting hook to realize vertical lifting and free rotation of the wheel rim, so that the inner diameter surface of the wheel rim is exposed for spraying operation.
