The invention provides a size measurement method based on key point identification, and belongs to the field of animal body size measurement, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining a picture of an animal to be measured; the method comprises the following steps: replacing a fifth layer Conv network of a Backbone of a yov8 model with a GSConv network, replacing all C2f modules of a check with a VovGSCSP module, adding a branch to a check part, and adding an EMA module to the tail of the check to form an improved yov8 model; training the improved yolov8 model through the picture of each animal to obtain an animal body size key point detection model; inputting a picture of an animal to be measured into the animal body size key point detection model, and outputting a key point corresponding to the animal body size; and performing calculation according to the pixel coordinates of the key points corresponding to the animal body size to obtain body size parameters of the animal. The method improves the efficiency and accuracy of animal body size measurement.
