A method for alerting a vehicle camera to dirt includes the following steps: when the vehicle is in reverse, a continuous image of the shooting range is obtained through the vehicle camera; through a processing module, based on bounding box information, at least three corner points are obtained in the Nth frame of the continuous image to form a specific region, wherein the specific region does not cover the four corners of the Nth frame image, and the area of ​​the specific region is smaller than the area of ​​the Nth frame image; through the processing module, dirt image feature detection is performed on the Nth frame of the continuous image according to an image recognition model to obtain dirt information, the dirt information including the dirt area; and through the processing module, based on the dirt information, a dirt warning is generated when the ratio between the dirt area overlapping the specific region and the area of ​​the specific region exceeds a specific ratio.
