The invention provides a modified binder for a silicon-carbon negative electrode and a preparation method, the modified binder for the silicon-carbon negative electrode is a black paste polymer, the polymer is composed of a binder A, a modifier B, a conductive agent C and an additive D, and the mass ratio of the four components is (50-70): (10-20): (10-20): (1-5). By optimizing the component design, the structural stability and conductivity of the silicon-carbon negative electrode material in the charge-discharge cycle are improved, so that the energy density, cycle life and safety performance of the lithium ion battery, especially the lithium ion battery taking the silicon-carbon composite material as the negative electrode, are remarkably improved.
