Abstract

This invention discloses a method for planting mangroves in sandy soil using micro-topography modification and water control technology, solving restoration problems such as poor water and fertilizer retention in sandy soil and insufficient mangrove immersion time. The method calculates the dimensions (depth, width, and slope) of tidal channels based on the tidal cycle and selects grid-like, radial, or herringbone-like layout patterns. Tidal channels are excavated to form a three-zone spatial layout of planting area, tidal channel, and open beach. Water control facilities including gates and level controllers are installed, and a water level threshold is set to control the daily immersion time to ≥3 hours. Experimental data shows that this method achieves a one-year survival rate of 86% for mangroves in sandy soil, a significant improvement over traditional methods. Soil organic carbon is increased, and the seedling replanting rate is reduced by approximately 10%, combining ecological benefits with engineering economics. This provides a scientific and efficient technical solution for the restoration of mangroves in coastal sandy soil.
