Article with laser marking of machine-readable code

Abstract

A sheet of material marked with a pulsed laser has an outer edge and an inner edge separated by a core. There is a first layer starting from the outer edge and extending to less than about 60 microns in the core, and there is a second layer starting at the end of the first layer, at least about 5 microns from the outer edge, and starting from no more than 60 microns from the outer edge. The first layer is substantially free of a laser marking additive, and the second layer has a TiO2 average concentration in a range from about 5.00% to about 12.00% by weight of the second layer.
