The invention provides a tundish castable and a preparation method thereof, and the tundish castable comprises the following components in parts by weight: 54 to 57 parts of bauxite clinker, 23.5 to 25 parts of flint clay, 3.8 to 4.2 parts of kyanite powder, 3 to 3.2 parts of alpha-alumina micro powder, 4.7 to 5.2 parts of high-alumina cement, 6.8 to 7.3 parts of silica fume and 2.7 to 3 parts of lithium-doped magnesium oxide nano powder. By increasing the dosage / content of the silica fume, the apparent porosity of the prepared sample after heat treatment at 1400 DEG C is reduced, and the strength of the sample is further improved.
