Preamble distribution of units across random access channels

Abstract

The invention provides preamble distribution of units across random access channels. A method for preamble distribution of a unit across a random access channel may include: determining a contention-based preamble set, the contention-based preamble set is associated with a synchronization signal block index / physical broadcast channel block index according to one or more valid physical random access channel opportunities for a plurality of physical random access channel transmissions. The method may also include determining at least one subset of preambles of the determined contention-based set of preambles, and transmitting the plurality of physical random access channel transmissions using preambles from the determined subset of preambles.
