Zinc-bromine flow battery electrolyte, preparation method and application thereof

Abstract

This invention belongs to the field of flow battery technology, specifically relating to a zinc-bromine flow battery electrolyte, its preparation method, and its application. The zinc-bromine flow battery electrolyte comprises zinc bromide, a supporting electrolyte, a bromine complexing agent, a sulfobetaine-type additive, a first additive, and water; the first additive is dimethyl sulfoxide, choline bromide, polyethylene glycol, or 1,2-propanediol. The zinc-bromine flow battery electrolyte of this invention not only effectively inhibits the shuttle effect of polybrominated ions and the growth of zinc dendrites, significantly reducing the battery's self-discharge rate, but also significantly improves coulombic efficiency, voltage efficiency, and energy efficiency.
