Abstract

A process for recovering (alkyl) acrylic acid from an aqueous phase comprising (alkyl) acrylic acid, the process comprising the step of contacting said aqueous phase with an extractant selected from the group consisting of hydrophobic alcohols and hydrophobic (alkyl) acrylates in a packed column comprising a surface hydrophilic filler to extract said (alkyl) acrylic acid. The invention also relates to a process for the continuous production of (alkyl) acrylates comprising the aforementioned process for recovering (alkyl) acrylic acid, and to a system for carrying out the process according to the invention.
