Cooking utensil and control method thereof

Abstract

The cooking utensil comprises a cooking plate; a container sensing circuit including a container sensing coil and at least one switch allowing a flow of an input current input to the container sensing coil and a flow of an output current output from the container sensing coil, where the container sensing circuit determines a position or type of the cooking container on the cooking plate, the at least one switch is controlled to allow the flow of the input current and the flow of the output current; a heating coil disposed below the cooking plate and generating a magnetic field extendable to the cooking plate and the container sensing circuit based on the supply of the driving power; and a control unit that controls the at least one switch to allow flow of the input current and the output current for a predetermined time corresponding to each predetermined cycle of a driving frequency of the driving power while the driving power is supplied to the heating coil.
