Abstract

This invention provides a method for improving the corrosion resistance of chloride molten salt storage tanks. Aluminum powder and aluminum chloride are mixed and dried to obtain mixed powder 1. Mixed powder 1 is then mixed with a chloride mixed salt to obtain mixed powder 2. Mixed powder 2 is filled into a chloride molten salt storage tank, and the air inside the tank is vented using inert gas. The tank is then heated to melt the mixed powder 2, obtaining high-temperature molten salt. The tank is then insulated, during which the high-temperature molten salt flows within the chloride molten salt storage tank, thereby improving the corrosion resistance of the chloride molten salt storage tank. This invention purifies the molten salt with aluminum ions, removes oxidizing impurities, and dissolves the metal to form redox ions, reducing the molten salt potential and inhibiting corrosion. Simultaneously, the gaseous chloride products formed by the decomposition and volatilization of aluminum chloride powder form an interface layer on the alloy surface. After adsorption and reaction, active [Al] is generated and diffuses into the interior of the alloy, achieving a corrosion resistance increase of more than 10 times without altering the physicochemical properties of the molten salt.
