Welding process for dissimilar materials and products made using the same

Abstract

This invention discloses a welding process for dissimilar materials and products made therefrom, relating to the field of welding technology. The process includes the following steps: Step 1: Assembling copper and aluminum materials so that their welding positions are butt-to-button, and adding an aluminum-clad plate to cover the weld seam surface; Step 2: Welding the two materials at their welding positions, using immersion and / or spraying coolant to lower the temperature, keeping the welding area temperature below a set threshold until welding is complete. This invention uses immersion and / or spraying coolant to continuously cool the welding area during welding, keeping the welding temperature consistently below a set threshold. This forced cooling significantly reduces the peak welding temperature and shortens the high-temperature dwell time, inhibiting the formation of brittle intermetallic compounds between dissimilar metals such as aluminum and copper; it also reduces the width of the heat-affected zone and residual stress, effectively improving the mechanical properties and reliability of the weld.
