The application provides a quench detection system and method for a superconducting magnet, wherein the system comprises: a first quench detection module, the first quench detection module is composed of a coupling coil, a bridge circuit and a comparator; the coupling coil is coaxially arranged with the superconducting magnet; the bridge circuit has a first input end, a second input end and a differential output end, wherein the first input end is connected to both ends of the superconducting magnet to obtain a first voltage signal, the second input end is connected to both ends of the coupling coil to obtain a second voltage signal, and the differential output end is connected to the comparator; the comparator is used for outputting a signal indicating that the superconducting magnet quenches in the case that the difference between the first voltage signal and the second voltage signal exceeds a first preset threshold. The accuracy of quench detection of the superconducting magnet can be improved.
