The present invention provides microparticles comprising sulfur-containing compounds such as cysteamine, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, hydrate, or ester thereof. Compositions comprising microparticles and stabilizers are also provided. The microparticles of this application provide a useful mode of cysteamine delivery for patients with lung diseases.
