A copolymer dispersant, its preparation method and application

Abstract

This invention relates to the field of pigment dispersion technology, and in particular to a copolymer dispersant, its preparation method, and its application. The preparation method includes the following steps: mixing styrene, maleic anhydride, acrylate monomers, an initiator, and a chain transfer agent in a solvent, and carrying out a copolymerization reaction to obtain the copolymer dispersant. This invention introduces acrylate monomers containing hydroxyl or ether bonds (such as hydroxyethyl acrylate or methoxyethyl acrylate) into a ternary copolymer with styrene and maleic anhydride. The resulting dispersant molecule simultaneously possesses hydrophobic segments, anhydride / carboxylic acid groups, and hydrophilic side chains. This structure can effectively anchor on the surface of pigments such as phthalocyanine blue, and through the synergistic effect of steric hindrance and electrostatic repulsion, improves the stability and uniformity of the dispersion system.
