Abstract

This application provides a method and apparatus for fault location in transmission lines, belonging to the field of electrical testing. By extracting the fundamental positive-sequence voltage and current components during a single-end fault in the transmission line, transient harmonics and noise interference are filtered out. Furthermore, an iterative fault location model is established based on the imaginary part characteristics of the fundamental positive-sequence components. Through the correlation between the shunt coefficient and the fault distance within the model, combined with the product relationship between the imaginary part eigenvalue and the line impedance, a location model that conforms to physical principles and possesses high interpretability is constructed. After calculating the initial fault distance value, the shunt coefficient is iteratively optimized to dynamically correct the location parameters, eliminating the influence of load-side system impedance fluctuations on the location results. This overcomes the technical bottleneck of traditional methods being sensitive to transition resistance in single-end location scenarios, significantly improving location accuracy and anti-interference capability, ultimately achieving high-precision fault location and providing a reliable basis for rapid fault isolation and repair.
