Display panel, display device and control method

Abstract

This invention discloses a display panel, a display device, and a control method. The display panel includes a dimming box and a liquid crystal display (LCD) cell stacked on top of each other, with the LCD cell located on the light-emitting side of the dimming box. The dimming box includes a counter substrate, a first array substrate, and a phase change material (PCM) layer. The PCM layer is capable of switching between a crystalline and amorphous state. The first array substrate has multiple first pixel electrodes, and the counter substrate has a first common electrode that cooperates with the first pixel electrodes. The first pixel electrodes and the first common electrode are used to control the switching of the PCM layer between the crystalline and amorphous states. By setting the PCM layer between the counter substrate and the first array substrate, and controlling the switching of the PCM layer between the crystalline and amorphous states through the first pixel electrodes and the first common electrode, different light transmittances of the PCM layer can be achieved. Combined with the LCD cell, this improves the contrast ratio.
