Silicon-based liquid crystal devices, phase modulation devices, and wavelength selective switches

Abstract

This application provides a silicon-based liquid crystal device, a phase modulation device, and a wavelength selective switch. The silicon-based liquid crystal device includes a phase adjustment layer (201), a liquid crystal layer (203), and a polarization conversion layer (204) stacked together. The phase adjustment layer (201) is used to adjust the phase of light in a first polarization direction in incident light, and also to adjust the phase of light in a second polarization direction in incident light; wherein the amount of phase adjustment for the light in the first polarization direction is different from the amount of phase adjustment for the light in the second polarization direction. The silicon-based liquid crystal device provided by this application can improve the spatial isolation between polarization-converted light and unconverted light.
