In particular, this invention relates to a composition for caring for keratin materials, and a facial mask containing said composition. This invention also relates to a non-therapeutic method for caring for keratin materials. Background Technology

[0002] Hydrogels are solid gels containing different types of polymers that can retain a large amount of water. This technology is widely used in medical dressings to provide soothing or wound-healing effects. In the cosmetics field, hydrogels can be used as a substrate for sheet masks.

[0003] To ensure a sufficiently firm sheet mask, the common approach is to increase the polymer concentration.

[0004] However, when the concentration of the polymer increases, the resulting hydrogel becomes harder and more difficult to bend and conform to the shape of the face. It is acceptable to use it as a local patch such as an eye patch or spot patch, but it cannot be used as a full-face mask or for other body parts.

[0005] Compositions that are desired to have a softness suitable for the entire face or other body parts.

[0006] It is also expected that the composition has good affinity so that it can adhere to the skin.

[0007] Therefore, there is a need to develop a soft composition that has good skin affinity.

[0008] Furthermore, the formulation of environmentally friendly cosmetics designed and developed with environmental concerns in mind is becoming a major goal in efforts to address global challenges.

[0009] Therefore, it is crucial to develop more sustainable compositions and ingredients to address these environmental issues.

[0010] In this context, it is important to develop new cosmetic compositions with a better carbon footprint, particularly by promoting the use of renewable ingredients and / or materials with a good naturalness index and / or natural sources, especially plant-based materials, while reducing the use of petrochemical-derived compounds. [0028] The composition according to the present invention comprises: (i) at least one extract of Sphingosine monocytogenes fermentation product; (ii) at least one carrageenan; and (iii) at least one nonionic polysaccharide selected from homopolymers of mannose, copolymers of mannose and glucose, copolymers of mannose and galactose, and combinations thereof.

[0029] Sphingosomalidone fermentation product extract According to a first aspect, the composition of the present invention comprises at least one extract of Sphingomonas fermentation product.

[0030] Sphingosine monocytogenes fermentation product extract is an extract of the product obtained through the fermentation of Sphingosine monocytogenes. It is known to contain glycolipids (GSLs) such as seramide, dihydrosphingosine, and glucuronic acid, and is widely appreciated for its function in reducing lipid peroxidation and key biomarkers of aging (thereby preventing skin aging).

[0031] The extracts according to the present invention can be prepared by any conventional method known to those skilled in the art. These methods typically include steps of fermentation, extraction, separation, and purification.

[0032] Typically, Sphingomonas bacteria are cultured in suitable media at desired densities. The bacteria themselves are concentrated by any known method, such as centrifugation. The concentrated bacteria can then be used directly as a crude preparation, or additional processing steps known to those skilled in the art can be performed, such as lyophilization, dehydration, filtration, purification, freezing, optionally followed by thawing, sterilization, column chromatography, grinding, etc.

[0033] Preferably, the bacterial extract is a bacterial lysate, which specifically contains compounds contained in the bacteria and is therefore present in the bacterial precipitate of the centrifuged bacterial culture. Preferably, the bacterial extract is a bacterial lysate containing intracellular mediators and / or components of the (cell) wall and / or cell membrane.

[0034] Lysate generally refers to the material obtained at the end of the destruction or dissolution of a biological cell through a phenomenon called cell lysis, which results in the release of intracellular biological components naturally present in the cell of the microorganism under consideration.

[0035] For the purposes of this invention, the term lysate is used indiscriminately to refer to all lysates obtained by lysis of the relevant microorganisms or only a portion thereof.

[0036] The lysates used are therefore formed entirely or partially from intracellular biological components as well as components of the cell wall and cell membrane.

[0037] This cell lysis can be performed using various techniques, such as osmotic shock, heat shock (e.g., freezing, optionally followed by thawing), by ultrasound, or under mechanical stress, such as centrifugation.

[0038] Preferably, the pyrolyte used in the framework of the present invention is obtained by a method comprising the following steps: i) Centrifugation step; ii) Steps for recovering precipitates; iii) The step of freezing the precipitate; iv) The procedure for thawing the precipitate; v) Optionally, sterilization is performed via autoclaving, particularly at 121°C.

[0039] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the bacterial extract comprises inactivated bacteria.

[0040] Here, "inactivation" has the meaning commonly used by those skilled in the art, namely, inhibiting bacterial activity under the influence of various factors (heat, chemical, mechanical, enzymatic substances). Preferably, bacteria are inactivated by heating, and more preferably by autoclaving.

[0041] Preferably, the bacteria in the extract according to the present invention are *Sphingosine monocytogenes* (SCM). Sphingomonasxenophaga In a more preferred embodiment, the bacterium is a heterophagocytic sphingosine monocytogenes deposited on 21 November 2019 at Collection Nationale de Culture de Microorganismes ((CNCM), Paris, France) by L'Oréal, 101 Avenue Gustave Eiffel, 37390 Notre Dame d'Oé with the number CNCM I-5455.

[0066] Xanthan gum is produced by the bacteria Xanthomonas campestris (…). XanthomonascampestrisXanthan gum is a heteropolysaccharide produced by the aerobic fermentation of xanthan gum. Its structure consists of a β(1,4)-linked β-D-glucose backbone, similar to cellulose. One of the two glucose molecules carries a trisaccharide side chain consisting of α-D-mannose, β-D-glucuronic acid, and terminal β-D-mannose. The internal mannose residues are typically acetylated at carbon 6. Approximately 30% of the terminal mannose residues have pyruvate groups chelated between carbons 4 and 6. The charged pyruvate and glucuronic acid are ionizable, thus giving xanthan gum its anionic properties (it remains negatively charged even at pH 1). These groups can be used in commercial products with Na... + K + or Ca 2+ Ion neutralization (Satia, 1986). The neutralized form can be converted to the acidic form through ion exchange or by dialysis of an acidic solution.

[0067] Gellan gum has a repeating tetrasaccharide structure composed of (glucose-glucuronic acid-glucose-rhamnose) units.

[0113] Preparation of the composition The above composition was prepared as follows: 1) Preparation of phase A: Carrageenan (if present), glucomannan and xanthan gum were mixed in glycerol with stirring to obtain a mixture. The mixture was then introduced into water at 80°C and stirred for 30 minutes. 2) Introduce the Sphingomonas fermentation product extract (if present) into phase A at 80°C and stir for 5 minutes to obtain the composition.

[0114] Preparation of face masks Weigh 30 g of each composition of Invention Examples (IE.) 1-3 and Comparative Examples (CE.) 1-3, and apply it to 1 g of fabric made of cellulose using a coating machine to obtain a face mask.

[0115] Evaluate The softness and skin affinity of each obtained composition were evaluated.

[0116] Softness The softness of the compositions of Invention Examples (IE.) 1-3 and Comparative Examples (CE.) 1-3 was characterized as follows by gel strength tested using a texture analyzer called Stable Micro Systems TA.XT Plus, available from Lotunscience.

[0117] A sample at 80°C was poured into a cylinder with a diameter of 68 mm and a height of 25 mm, the amount being sufficient to create a smooth and uniform surface free of defects. The sample was allowed to solidify overnight at room temperature in the cylinder. Subsequently, testing was conducted under the following conditions according to the manufacturer's instructions: For each sample, the force at 8 mm was read as the gel strength. The gel strength results for each tested composition are listed in Table 3.

[0118] The gel strength value is expressed in "g". The lower the gel strength value, the softer the composition. A gel strength of less than 200 g is acceptable.

[0119] Affinity The skin affinity of the compositions of Invention Examples (IE.) 1-3 and Comparative Examples (CE.) 1-3 is evaluated as follows.

[0120] Twenty volunteers were invited to have a face mask containing the composition to be tested applied to their face (with the composition in contact with the face) and to perform the following movements while keeping the mask in place: a) Blink 10 times; b) Move your eyes to the right, left, clockwise, and counterclockwise, 3 times each; c) Move your mouth by saying "e", "i", and "u" three times each; d) Move your face downwards 3 times; e) Move your face 45° to the right, then 45° to the left, 3 times each.

[0121] Volunteers then provided skin affinity scores for the test composition according to the following criteria, and the average score was taken: 0-1: More than 50% of the facial skin area is peeled off. 1-2: Peel off 30-50% of the facial skin. 2-3: Gently peel off 20-30% of the facial skin. 3-4: Gently peel off 10-20% of the facial skin. 4-5: Gently peel off 5-10% of the facial skin area. 5-6: Almost no slight peeling from the facial skin, peeling 0-5% of the area.

[0122] The gel strength and skin affinity of the compositions of the obtained Invention Examples (IE.) 1-3 and Comparative Examples (CE.) 1-3 are listed in Table 3.

[0123] Table 3 nature IE.1 IE.2 IE. 3 CE. 1 CE. 2 CE. 3 gel strength (g) 180 140 190 300 560 90 Affinity 5.2 5.8 5.7 3.1 1.2 NA NA: Not evaluated because the composition is too dry to adhere to the skin.

[0124] It can be seen that each of the invention compositions has a gel strength value of less than 200, and each invention composition has an affinity score of greater than 5, which means that the invention compositions are soft and have good affinity to the skin.
