Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This invention relates to a bidirectional hybrid flux motor in the field of motor technology, and more particularly to a water-cooled four-rotor hybrid flux hub motor. Background Technology
[0002] Permanent magnet motors, as the mainstream technology for hub motors, boast advantages such as high power density, high efficiency, compact structure, and good control performance, and are poised for further development. Permanent magnet motors are mainly classified into radial flux motors, axial flux motors, and transverse flux motors. Although axial flux motors and transverse flux motors have advantages in power density, torque density, and axial length, radial flux motors offer significant advantages in terms of manufacturing processes, design methods, and cost, and remain the primary type of motor used in hub motors.
[0003] Currently, axial motors have become a research hotspot due to their flat and ultra-thin structure, higher torque density, and better heat dissipation capabilities. Among various axial flux permanent magnet synchronous topologies, the NN and NS type magnetic circuit structures of single-stator dual-rotor motors exhibit the best performance. Compared to the NN type topology, the NS type topology uses a circular conductor cross-section and a shorter stator yoke, resulting in a more compact motor structure, further reduced weight, and improved power density. Simultaneously, it has lower core losses, leading to relatively higher power density and energy efficiency. The NN type topology uses rectangular cross-section conductors, resulting in a higher slot fill factor, easier winding distribution, and shorter end windings, effectively reducing heat generation in the end windings. TJ Woolmer et al. from Oxford University combined the advantages of the short stator yoke of the NS type topology with the higher slot fill factor of the NN type topology, proposing for the first time a topology for an axial flux segmented core yokeless motor (YASA structure). The YASA motor completely eliminates the magnetic yoke, which helps reduce stator core losses and overall motor weight, thereby increasing power density. It also allows for the use of rectangular cross-section conductors to achieve a higher slot fill factor. Therefore, the YASA motor offers advantages in higher power density and energy efficiency. In recent years, scholars from various countries have primarily focused on improving the power density and efficiency of axial flux motors from the perspectives of magnetic circuit optimization, enhancing material properties and topology, and improving motor heat dissipation efficiency.
[0004] The design of the cooling system for the stator core and windings of a hub motor has always been a key technology in motor development. The highest temperature of the motor is located at both ends of the windings, which are surrounded by air. The extremely low thermal conductivity of air causes heat to accumulate at the winding ends, forming high-temperature regions. Furthermore, due to the influence of the heat transfer path at the end windings, the stator core also exhibits a temperature distribution trend of high at both ends and low in the middle. There is a fitting air gap between the stator core and the housing; the heat from the core must dissipate through this gap. Since hub motors are in a closed system, a circulating cooling system should be used. Hub motor cooling is generally divided into three methods: air cooling, oil cooling, and water cooling. Air cooling has lower efficiency and is suitable for low-power, low-speed hub motors. Oil cooling has higher efficiency but suffers from sealing and wear issues. Water cooling is the most effective cooling method and is suitable for hub motors with high power / torque density and strong overload capacity. Water cooling systems significantly improve the motor's heat dissipation. Currently, water-cooled motors are mainly classified into three types: housing-cooled, housing-plus-end-cover-cooled, and housing-plus-end-cover-plus-shaft-cooled. The design of water-cooled structures for the stator windings and core needs further development.
[0005] Chinese patents CN 117526622 A, CN 115864768 A, and CN 110120716 A provide several motors with different structures and cooling solutions.
[0006] CN 117526622 A discloses an integrated internal and external rotor dual-stator hub motor drive system for heavy-duty trucks. The rotor is positioned between the inner and outer stators to improve its power. By integrating the heat dissipation mechanisms of the stator and brake drum, the problem of brake drum overheating and requiring water spraying is solved. However, the integrated internal and external rotor dual-stator hub motor is relatively large, and its power and torque density are still not high enough.
[0007] CN 115864768 A discloses a dual-rotor hub motor, including a radial dual-rotor structure and a stator mechanism in which the stator core and windings are sealed and welded together. Coolant directly passes through the stator mechanism to wet the stator core and windings, and a circulation mechanism removes the heat generated by the stator core and windings within the stator mechanism. This invention significantly improves working efficiency by removing heat through an internal stator cooling mechanism, and enhances the motor's power density and rotational torque through a radial dual-rotor design.
[0008] CN 110120716 A discloses a combined array type external rotor axial-radial hybrid flux permanent magnet motor, including an external rotor and multiple modular T-shaped stators. The T-shaped segmented iron core is made of soft magnetic composite material processed by powder metallurgy. The T-shaped segmented iron core has two axial stator teeth and a central radial stator tooth. This invention can improve the utilization rate of the winding ends and improve torque quality, but the saturation magnetic induction intensity of the motor is relatively low. Summary of the Invention

A circumferential double helical water channel is provided on the end face of the radial outer stator core, a circumferential triple helical water channel is provided on the end face of the radial inner stator core, and water-cooling pipes are provided in the axial stator slots. The water-cooled four-rotor hybrid flux hub motor features an optimized topology, which improves power density and torque density. The water-cooling structure also enhances the motor's heat dissipation performance, durability, and reliability.

[0011] The axial-radial hybrid flux structure of the four stators and the four rotors is set as follows: axial left (right) stator teeth → radial outer stator teeth left (right) side → air gap → radial outer rotor → axial left (right) rotor → air gap → axial left (right) stator teeth.
[0012] The water cooling channel is set as follows: spindle inlet → radial inner stator core left end face circumferential triple spiral water channel inlet (radial inner stator core right end face circumferential triple spiral water channel inlet uses the radial inner stator core to set up a water channel and then connects to the spindle inlet) → radial inner stator core left (right) end face circumferential triple spiral water channel → axial left (right) stator slot water cooling pipe inner end inlet → axial left (right) stator slot water cooling pipe outer end outlet → radial outer stator core left (right) end face circumferential double spiral water channel inlet → radial outer stator core left (right) end face circumferential double spiral water channel outlet → axial left (right) stator slot water cooling pipe outer end inlet → axial left stator slot water cooling pipe inner end outlet (axial right stator slot water cooling pipe inner end outlet uses the radial inner stator core to set up a water channel and then connects to the spindle outlet pipe) → spindle outlet pipe.
