Abstract

This invention relates to the field of testing equipment technology, and in particular to an adjustable diameter bolt preload testing device and method. The technical solution includes an upper cover that mates with a connector, a lower cover fixedly mounted at the bottom of the upper cover, and a clamping block that slides radially along the lower cover inside the lower cover. Multiple clamping blocks are provided. This invention uses bolts to compress wedges. Larger bolt sizes result in greater wedge movement distances and longer linear potentiometer movement distances, leading to a larger rotation angle of the spiral strip, longer movement distances of the textured block and clamping blocks, and larger spacing between the multiple clamping blocks. Conversely, smaller bolt sizes result in smaller wedge movement distances, shorter linear potentiometer movement distances, shorter movement distances of the textured block and clamping blocks, and smaller spacing between the multiple clamping blocks. This adapts to different bolt sizes used in electric vehicles, eliminating the need for a torque wrench and improving testing efficiency.
