It is understood that the aforementioned functional modules can be network elements in hardware devices, software functional modules running on dedicated hardware, or virtualized functional modules instantiated on a platform (e.g., a cloud platform).
[0255] The relevant technologies associated with the embodiments of this application will be described below.
[0256] I. LPWA Terminal
[0257] The deployment of 6G is expected to begin around 2030, and existing cellular IoT devices, such as Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) devices, will also reach the end of their lifespan by then. Therefore, 6G presents an opportune time to deploy a new generation of higher-performance, lower-cost, and larger-scale LPWA devices. With the rollout of 6G, the LPWA market is projected to experience strong growth, penetrating a wide variety of commercially valuable application scenarios (such as logistics management, smart homes, and smart cities).
[0258] Existing 4G LPWA solutions (such as NB-IoT and eMBB) are not well compatible. The physical layers of NB-IoT user equipment and eMBB user equipment differ significantly, increasing both the standardization workload and the cost of NB-IoT user equipment. Furthermore, NB-IoT user equipment requires dedicated NB-IoT base stations, further increasing network deployment costs and operational efficiency. When designing 6G LPWA solutions, we need to address these shortcomings. 6G LPWA and eMBB should be as compatible as possible, especially at the physical layer, where LPWA should reuse eMBB design as much as possible. Therefore, to reduce the implementation costs of user equipment and base stations, as well as the standardization workload, while 6G Day-1 standardization should focus on eMBB, forward compatibility with LPWA must be fully considered. After the basic functions of eMBB are standardized, LPWA functionality can be implemented through parameter configuration and software modifications, with minimal hardware changes. This will significantly reduce the implementation cost of a single LPWA IoT device, providing a solid foundation for supporting massive connectivity of IoT devices to achieve widespread commercialization of 6G cellular IoT. Correspondingly, on the network side, a single 6G base station will simultaneously serve both LPWA and eMBB devices, dynamically optimizing resource allocation for instantaneous service requests.
[0259] Among them, LPWA terminals have at least one of the following limitations compared to normal capability terminals (eMBB terminals):
[0260] Transmission bandwidth capability;
[0261] Radio frequency (RF) capability;
[0262] Transmission power capability;
[0263] Error detection, demodulation / decoding capabilities.
[0264] II. Terminal and Network Architecture Assumptions Supporting eMBB and LPWA Features
[0265] Currently, based on whether the terminal supports LPWA features, terminal types can be divided into the following categories:
[0266] UE Type 1: Only supports eMBB features, does not support LPWA features;
[0267] UE Type 2: Only supports LPWA features, does not support eMBB features;
[0268] UE Type 3: Supports both eMBB and LPWA features.
[0269] Based on whether the core network supports LPWA features, the current network architecture can be divided into the following types:
[0270] Network Architecture 1: There are two network architectures. One network architecture only supports access for terminals that apply LPWA features or operate in LPWA mode, and does not support access for terminals that apply eMBB features or operate in eMBB mode. The other network architecture only supports access for terminals that apply eMBB features or operate in eMBB mode, and does not support access for terminals that apply LPWA features or operate in LPWA mode.
[0271] Network Architecture 2: There are two network architectures. One network architecture supports access from both terminals that apply LPWA features or operate in LPWA mode and terminals that apply eMBB features or operate in eMBB mode. The other network architecture only supports access from terminals that apply LPWA features or operate in LPWA mode, and does not support access from terminals that apply eMBB features or operate in eMBB mode.
[0272] Network Architecture 3: There exists a network architecture that supports both LPWA-enabled and eMBB-enabled terminal access.
[0273] This application provides a solution for how terminals supporting LPWA features can select appropriate core network equipment, access network equipment, and cells, thereby enabling them to select matching cells and core network equipment for normal operation, including relevant enhancements to the access layer and non-access layer.
[0274] The communication processing, information transmission methods, devices, terminals, and equipment provided in this application will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and through some embodiments and application scenarios.
[0275] like Figure 2 As shown in the figure, this application provides a communication processing method, including:
[0276] Step 201: The terminal that satisfies the first characteristic or the terminal operating in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic performs one or more of the following:
[0277] A11. Select a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) that matches the first characteristic;
[0278] A12. When selecting or reselecting a cell, select the cell that matches the first characteristic;
[0279] A13. When the first characteristic changes, select the cell or core network equipment that matches the changed characteristic;
[0280] The first characteristic is determined based on at least one of the following:
[0281] B101, Terminal transmission bandwidth;
[0282] B102. The terminal's radio frequency capabilities;
[0283] B103, Terminal's transmit power capability;
[0284] B104. Terminal detection and demodulation capabilities;
[0285] B105, Terminal's detection and decoding capabilities;
[0286] B106. Terminal data transmission rate;
[0287] B107. The terminal supports Extended Discontinuous Reception (eDRX);
[0288] B108. The terminal supports Mobile Initiated Connection Only (MICO).
[0289] B109. Terminal supports Power Saving Mode (PSM);
[0290] B110, terminal support for enhanced coverage.
[0291] It should be noted that, in the embodiments of this application, a terminal that meets the first characteristic or operates in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic can ensure that the terminal meets the first characteristic can camp on or access a suitable cell or PLMN by selecting a PLMN that matches the first characteristic, selecting a cell that matches the first characteristic during cell selection or reselection, selecting a cell that matches the changed characteristic when the first characteristic changes, or a core network device. This ensures the reliability of terminal communication.
[0292] Optionally, the mode corresponding to the first feature can be understood as the working mode of the terminal, that is, the terminal is currently using the capability corresponding to the first feature to transmit data with the network side. For example, the terminal's capability is determined by at least one of B101-B110. For example, the terminal's transmission bandwidth meets the bandwidth requirements defined by the first feature. Other cases are similar and will not be illustrated here.
[0293] It should be noted that the embodiments of this application also involve a second characteristic, which is different from the first characteristic. Optionally, the second characteristic can also be determined based on at least one of B101-B110 above, but the threshold or conditions referenced in the determination are different. For example, if the first characteristic and the second characteristic are determined by B101, then if the transmission bandwidth of the terminal is less than or equal to the threshold, the terminal satisfies the first characteristic or works in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic; if the transmission bandwidth is greater than the threshold, the terminal satisfies the second characteristic or works in the mode corresponding to the second characteristic; or, if the transmission bandwidth is less than the threshold, the terminal satisfies the first characteristic or works in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic; if the transmission bandwidth is greater than or equal to the threshold, the terminal satisfies the second characteristic or works in the mode corresponding to the second characteristic. For example, if the first and second characteristics are determined by B102, then if the terminal only supports low frequencies, the terminal satisfies the first characteristic or operates in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic; if the terminal also supports mid-to-high frequencies, the terminal satisfies the second characteristic or operates in the mode corresponding to the second characteristic. If the terminal supports a certain type of subcarrier spacing, the terminal satisfies the first characteristic or operates in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic; if the terminal supports another type of subcarrier spacing, the terminal satisfies the second characteristic or operates in the mode corresponding to the second characteristic. For example, if the first and second characteristics are determined by B103, then if the terminal's transmit power is the first capability, the terminal satisfies the first characteristic or operates in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic; if the terminal's transmit power is the second capability, the terminal satisfies the second characteristic or operates in the mode corresponding to the second characteristic. For example, if the first and second characteristics are determined by B104 or B105, then if the terminal's detection demodulation or detection decoding is the first capability, the terminal satisfies the first characteristic or operates in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic; if the terminal's detection demodulation or detection decoding is the second capability, the terminal satisfies the second characteristic or operates in the mode corresponding to the second characteristic. Other cases are similar and will not be described in detail here.
[0294] Optionally, the first feature mentioned in the embodiments of this application can be an LPWA feature and the second feature can be an eMBB feature; of course, the embodiments of this application are not limited thereto, and other combinations of different features also fall within the protection scope of this application.
[0295] The different actions performed by the terminal are explained below.
[0296] I. Terminal executes A11
[0297] Optionally, in this case, the specific implementation of selecting a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) that matches the first characteristic includes:
[0298] The terminal performs PLMN selection based on the first information;
[0299] The first piece of information includes one or more of C101-C112:
[0300] C101, the first PLMN supports the first feature;
[0301] This can be understood as the first PLMN supporting terminal access with the first feature applied, or the first PLMN supporting terminal access with both the first and second features applied.
[0302] Taking the first feature as an example, this means that the first PLMN supports the LPWA feature, that is, the first PLMN supports terminal access with the LPWA feature applied.
[0303] C102, the first PLMN does not support the first feature;
[0304] This situation can be understood as the first PLMN not supporting terminal access that has applied the first feature.
[0305] Taking the first feature as an example, this situation means that the first PLMN does not support the LPWA feature, that is, the first PLMN does not support the access of terminals that have applied the LPWA feature.
[0306] C103, the first PLMN only supports the first feature;
[0307] This situation can be understood as the first PLMN only supporting terminal access with the first feature applied, that is, the first PLMN does not support terminal access with the first and second features applied or does not support terminal access with only the second feature applied.
[0308] Taking the first feature as an example, this means that the first PLMN only supports the LPWA feature, that is, it only supports terminal access with the LPWA feature applied.
[0309] C104. The first PLMN allows terminals that have applied the first feature or are operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature to access the network.
[0310] Alternatively, another way to describe this situation is that the first PLMN supports the access of terminals that have applied the first feature or terminals that are operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature.
[0311] Alternatively, C104 and C101 can be considered as different expressions of the same meaning.
[0312] C105. The first PLMN does not allow terminals that have applied the first feature or are operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature to access the network.
[0313] Alternatively, another way to describe this situation is that the first PLMN does not support the access of terminals that have applied the first feature or terminals that are operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature.
[0314] Alternatively, C105 and C102 can be considered as different ways of expressing the same meaning.
[0315] C106. The first PLMN only allows terminals that have applied the first feature or are operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature to access the network.
[0316] Alternatively, C106 and C103 can be considered as different expressions of the same meaning.
[0317] C107, the first PLMN supports the second feature;
[0318] This situation can be understood as the first PLMN supporting terminal access with the second feature applied.
[0319] Taking the second feature as an example, this means that the first PLMN supports the eMBB feature, that is, the second PLMN supports terminal access with the eMBB feature applied.
[0320] C108, the first PLMN does not support the second feature;
[0321] This situation can be understood as the first PLMN not supporting terminal access that uses the second feature.
[0322] Taking the second feature as an example, this situation means that the first PLMN does not support the eMBB feature, that is, the first PLMN does not support the access of terminals that have applied the eMBB feature.
[0323] C109, the first PLMN only supports the second feature;
[0324] This situation can be understood as the first PLMN only supporting terminal access with the second feature applied.
[0325] Taking the second feature as an example, this situation means that the first PLMN only supports the eMBB feature, that is, the first PLMN only supports terminal access with the eMBB feature applied.
[0326] C110. The first PLMN allows terminals that have applied the second feature or are operating in the mode corresponding to the second feature to access the network.
[0327] Alternatively, C110 and C107 can be considered as different expressions of the same meaning.
[0328] C111. The first PLMN does not allow terminals that have applied the second feature or are operating in the mode corresponding to the second feature to access the network.
[0329] Alternatively, C111 and C108 can be considered as different expressions of the same meaning.
[0330] C112. The first PLMN only allows terminals that have applied the second feature or are operating in the mode corresponding to the second feature to access the network.
[0331] Alternatively, C112 and C109 can be considered as different expressions of the same meaning.
[0332] Optionally, the method further includes one or more of C21-C22:
[0333] C21. The terminal's non-access layer (NAS) obtains first information, wherein the first PLMN is a PLMN available to the terminal;
[0334] It should be noted that in this case, the first information can be understood as being determined by the NAS, which can obtain the first information based on prior information or historical access records.
[0335] C22. The terminal receives system information sent by the access network device, wherein the system information carries first information, and the first PLMN is the PLMN associated with the cell that sent the system information;
[0336] It should be noted that in this case, the first information can be understood as being sent to the terminal by the access network device. Optionally, the access network device can broadcast system information to the terminal, and the terminal that receives the system information can obtain the first information based on the system information.
[0337] It should be further noted that if the terminal obtains the first information through system information, the first information in this case can be an independent configuration for each PLMN or a common configuration supported by all PLMNs for the cell that sent the system information. Only terminals that support the first feature, apply the first feature, or operate in the mode corresponding to the first feature will apply this first information; otherwise, the first information will be ignored.
[0338] Optionally, the system information can be sent by the access network device via broadcast. Optionally, the system information can be a System Information Block (SIB), such as SIB1, SIB2, SIB3, etc.
[0339] For example, taking the first feature as the LPWA feature, the access network device can use the supportLPWA parameter in each PLMN information in the system information it sends to indicate whether the PLMN supports the LPWA feature.
[0340] For example, add "supportLPWA ENUMERATED(true),OPTIONAL" to the configuration signaling.
[0341] Optionally, in one implementation, after selecting a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) matching the first characteristic, the method further includes:
[0342] If, after selecting a PLMN, the terminal changes from the first characteristic to the second characteristic or from the mode corresponding to the first characteristic to the mode corresponding to the second characteristic, and the terminal determines that the selected PLMN no longer matches the terminal's changed characteristics, the terminal executes one or more of the following:
[0343] C31. If the terminal is connected to the access network equipment or the core network equipment, disconnect the connection from the access network equipment or the core network equipment.
[0344] C32, PLMN selection or reselection;
[0345] C33. Select or reselect a cell.
[0346] It should be noted that if the characteristics of the terminal change, and the PLMN to which it is accessing does not support the characteristics of the terminal or does not allow the terminal with the changed characteristics to access, then the terminal needs to disconnect from the core network equipment or access network equipment; furthermore, after disconnecting, the terminal can reselect or reselect the PLMN, or reselect or reselect the cell.
[0347] For example, if the terminal is in the Radio Resource Control (RRC) Idle (RRC_IDLE) state, the Radio Resource Control (RRC_INACTIVE) inactive (RRC_INACTIVE) state, or the Radio Resource Control (RRC_CONNECTED) state, and the terminal changes its own characteristics (e.g., from the first characteristic to the second characteristic), and the terminal determines that the current PLMN no longer matches its own characteristics, then the terminal needs to execute at least one of C31-C33 above.
[0348] It should be noted that this application scenario is for PLMNs that currently only allow terminals with specific characteristics to access the network. For example, some PLMNs only support terminals with the first characteristic, while others only support terminals with the second characteristic. By applying this method of the embodiments of this application, the PLMN can be selected based on the characteristics or working mode of the terminal's current application, ensuring that the terminal can access the PLMN that meets its own characteristics as soon as possible, thereby ensuring the reliability of communication.
[0349] II. Terminal executes A12
[0350] Optionally, in this case, the selection of cells matching the first characteristic includes one or more of D11 and D12:
[0351] D11. The terminal selects a cell that matches the first characteristic based on the second information sent by the access network equipment.
[0352] It should be noted that this situation refers to cell selection, that is, the terminal selects a cell based on the second information sent by the access network device.
[0353] The second information is used to indicate one or more of the following:
[0354] Terminals supporting the first feature are prohibited from accessing the first cell;
[0355] The first cell does not prohibit terminals that support the first feature from accessing;
[0356] The first cell allows terminals that have applied the first feature or terminals that are operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature to access the network.
[0357] The first cell does not allow terminals that apply the first feature or operate in the mode corresponding to the first feature to access the network.
[0358] The first cell prohibits terminals that do not support the first feature from accessing;
[0359] The first cell does not prohibit terminals that do not support the first feature from accessing;
[0360] The first cell allows terminals that do not apply the first feature or are not operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature to access the network.
[0361] The first cell does not allow terminals that do not apply the first feature or are not operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature to access the cell.
[0362] The first cell prohibits terminals that support the second feature from accessing;
[0363] The first cell does not prohibit terminals that support the second feature from accessing;
[0364] The first cell allows terminals that have applied the second feature or terminals that are operating in the mode corresponding to the second feature to access the network.
[0365] The first cell does not allow terminals that apply the second feature or operate in the mode corresponding to the second feature to access the network.
[0366] Optionally, the second information includes one or more of D111-D113:
[0367] D111, First indication information, used to indicate at least one of the following: whether the first cell supports the first feature or the second feature, whether the first cell allows the terminal that has applied the first feature or the second feature to access, whether the first cell allows the terminal that has not applied the first feature or the second feature to access, whether the first cell allows the terminal that is working in the mode corresponding to the first feature or the second feature to access, and whether the first cell allows the terminal that is not working in the mode corresponding to the first feature or the second feature to access.
[0368] Optionally, if the first indication information is an enumeration type, then for the first cell, it will directly indicate "barred", "notbarred", "true", or "false". For example, if the first cell does not support terminal access for the first feature, the first indication information can indicate whether the first feature is supported and set to "barred"; if the first cell supports terminal access for the first feature, the first indication information can indicate whether the first feature is supported and set to "not barred"; if the first cell does not support terminal access for the second feature, the first indication information can indicate whether the second feature is supported and set to "barred"; if the first cell supports terminal access for the second feature, the first indication information can indicate whether the second feature is supported and set to "not barred".
[0369] D112, Second indication information, used to indicate whether, for terminals that support or apply the first feature, cell reselection is allowed on a neighboring cell with the same frequency as the first cell when access is not permitted in the first cell; if the second information broadcast by a cell contains the second indication information, the terminal considers that the cell supports access to the cell by terminals that apply the first feature or terminals operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature.
[0370] Optionally, the second indication information can be understood as a co-frequency reselection indication information related to the first feature. If the first cell does not allow terminal access that supports or applies the first feature, and if the second indication information indicates that cell reselection is allowed on a neighboring cell with the same frequency as the first cell, then the terminal can perform cell reselection on a neighboring cell with the same frequency as the first cell; otherwise, the terminal cannot perform cell reselection on a neighboring cell with the same frequency as the first cell.
[0371] D113, Fourth Information, used to carry configuration related to the first feature;
[0372] Optionally, the configuration related to the first feature may include, but is not limited to, at least one of PSM, MICO, eDRX, the bandwidth corresponding to the first feature, the paging reception parameters corresponding to the first feature, and the system information reception parameters corresponding to the first feature. That is, if the second information includes the fourth information, the terminal believes that the cell allows terminals that support or apply the first feature to access.
[0373] It should be noted that this second information can be specific to each PLMN, or it can be common to all PLMNs supported by the cell. Only terminals that support or apply the first feature will use the second information; otherwise, the second information will be ignored.
[0374] It should be noted that current 5G supports using Master Indication Block (MIB) messages to indicate whether a cell is "barred" or "not barred." The terminal can determine whether it can camp on that cell based on this information. Specifically, if the message indicates "barred," the UE cannot camp; if it indicates "not barred," the terminal can camp. This implementation method in this application distinguishes whether a cell supports or does not support the first characteristic based on a first characteristic, associating the cell with the terminal's characteristics. This ensures that the terminal can select the appropriate cell to access based on its supported or used first characteristics, thereby enabling it to execute normal RRC_IDLE or RRC_INACTIVE states or the new states introduced in 6G.
[0375] Optionally, in one implementation, the method further includes:
[0376] When the terminal is camped on the target cell, it reports the target information during initial access;
[0377] The target information includes one or more of the following:
[0378] The terminal applies the first feature or operates in the mode corresponding to the first feature;
[0379] The terminal applies the second feature or operates in the mode corresponding to the second feature;
[0380] The target cell satisfies at least one of the following:
[0381] Supports first and second features, for example, supports LPWA features and eMBB features;
[0382] Terminals that have applied the first and second features are allowed to access the network. For example, terminals that have applied the LPWA and eMBB features are allowed to access the network.
[0383] Optionally, the target cell refers to any serving cell where the terminal is currently camped.
[0384] It should be noted that when a terminal camps on a cell that supports both the first and second features, it needs to report the features it is applying during initial access, i.e., during the RRC connection establishment process. Specifically, the terminal reports this target information in the RRC connection establishment request message or the RRC connection establishment completion message.
[0385] Optionally, if the terminal does not report the target message, the network side assumes that the terminal has applied the first feature or the second feature.
[0386] Optionally, after receiving the target information, the access network device can send the target information to the core network device.
[0387] It should be noted that by notifying the access network device and the core network device of the application's characteristics when the terminal enters the connected state, the access network device and the core network device can schedule the terminal using an operating mode that matches the terminal.
[0388] D12. Based on the third information sent by the access network device, select a cell that matches the first feature during cell reselection, wherein the third information is used to indicate whether the first feature is supported.
[0389] It should be noted that the third information can enable the terminal to select a cell that matches the first characteristic during reselection, thereby improving the accuracy of the terminal reselection.
[0390] Optionally, the third information may be broadcast by the terminal's stationary cell or sent by the terminal accessing the cell via a Radio Resource Control (RRC) release message.
[0391] Optionally, the third information is based on one or more of the following configurations:
[0392] Frequency can be understood as the third piece of information being at the frequency level.
[0393] The term "cell" can be understood as meaning that this third piece of information is at the cell level.
[0394] 1. For third information based on frequency configuration
[0395] Optionally, in one case, the third information is used to indicate at least one of the following: whether the first frequency point supports the first feature, whether the terminal applying the first feature is allowed to access, and whether the terminal working in the mode corresponding to the first feature is allowed to access; each first frequency point corresponds to a third information, and the first frequency point includes any one of the following: the frequency point associated with the neighboring cell of the cell that sends the third information, and the frequency point supported by the terminal.
[0396] For example, in this case, the interFreqCarrierFreqList carries multiple pieces of third information. Each piece of third information indicates whether the associated frequency point supports terminal access for the first feature, or whether terminal access with the first feature applied is allowed, or whether terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the first feature is supported. The frequency point associated with each piece of third information is a frequency point that is in the same position in the reselection frequency point list sent by the network and the third information list.
[0397] For example, the main signaling configuration can be:
[0398] InterFreqCarrierFreqList-LPWA::=SEQUENCE(SIZE(1..MaxFreq))OFInterFreqCarrierFreqInfo-LPWA
[0399] InterFreqCarrierFreqInfo-LPWA::=SEQUENCE{
[0400] LPWAAccessAllowed-rxy ENUMERATED(true)OPTIONAL
[0401] }
[0402] Alternatively, in another case, the third information is used to indicate the first parameter corresponding to the second frequency point. The first parameter is used to support or apply the first feature to perform cell reselection. Each second frequency point corresponds to a third information. The second frequency point includes any one of the following: a frequency point that supports neighbor cell association of the first feature, a frequency point that supports the first feature, or a frequency point that allows the terminal that applies the first feature or the terminal that works in the mode corresponding to the first feature to access the network.
[0403] Optionally, the terminal may apply a first parameter when calculating the signal strength (including cell received power or cell received quality) of neighboring cells associated with this frequency point. This can be done by adding or subtracting the first parameter, as shown in the highlighted section below. The network will not configure this first parameter for other frequency points that do not support the first feature, and therefore, this first parameter does not need to be considered when calculating the signal strength of neighboring cells.
[0404] For example, the signal strength of neighboring cells can be calculated using the following formulas: Formula 1 and / or Formula 2:
[0405] Formula 1, Srxlev=Q rxlevmeas –(Q rxlevmin +Q rxlevminoffset )–P compensation –(Qoffset temp -Qoffset LPWA );
[0406] Formula 2, Squal = Q qualmeas –(Q qualmin +Q qualminoffset )-(Qoffset temp -Qoffset LPWA );
[0407] Where Srxlev represents the cell-selected receive level value; Q rxlevmeas Q represents the received signal strength (RSPR) of the measured cell; rxlevmin Q rxlevminoffset P compensation Qoffset temp Parameters configured for the network side; Squal represents the cell selection quality value; Q qualmeas Q represents the measured cell quality value (RSRQ); qualmin Q qualminoffset Parameters configured for the network side; Qoffset LPWA This indicates the first parameter.
[0408] It should be noted that the first parameter can make the signal strength of a cell that supports the first feature higher than that of a cell that does not support the first feature during calculation, so that the terminal using the first feature can preferentially camp on the cell that supports the first feature.
[0409] 2. Third-party information is based on cell configuration.
[0410] Optionally, in one case, the third information is used to indicate at least one of the following: whether the first neighboring cell supports the first feature, whether the first neighboring cell allows the terminal that has applied the first feature or the terminal that is working in the mode corresponding to the first feature to access; each first neighboring cell corresponds to a third information.
[0411] Optionally, in this case, it can be divided into co-frequency cells and inter-frequency cells, specifically:
[0412] In one configuration method, for co-frequency cells: third information can be carried in `intraFrqNeighCellInfo` to indicate whether its associated cell supports the first feature. Each co-frequency cell can be configured with third information to indicate whether the cell supports terminal access for the first feature, allows terminal access using the first feature, or supports terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the first feature; or only co-frequency cells that support the first feature, allow terminal access using the first feature, or allow terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the first feature will have third information configured. If no third information is configured, the terminal considers that the cell does not support terminal access for the first feature, does not allow terminal access using the first feature, or does not support terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the first feature. Alternatively, only co-frequency cells that do not support the first feature, do not allow terminal access using the first feature, or allow terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the first feature will have third information configured. If no third information is configured, the terminal considers that the cell supports the first feature. For inter-frequency cells: Third information can be carried in `intraFrqNeighCellInfo` to indicate whether the associated cell supports terminal access based on the first characteristic, allows terminal access based on the first characteristic, or supports terminal access operating in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic. Each inter-frequency cell can be configured with one piece of third information to indicate whether the cell supports terminal access based on the first characteristic, allows terminal access based on the first characteristic, or supports terminal access operating in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic; alternatively, only inter-frequency cells that support the first characteristic will have the third information configured. If no third information is configured, the terminal assumes that the cell does not support terminal access based on the first characteristic, does not allow terminal access based on the first characteristic, or does not support terminal access operating in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic.
[0413] For example, the main signaling configuration of a co-frequency cell can be:
[0414] IntraFreqNeighCellList::=SEQUENCE(SIZE(1..MaxCellIntra))OFIntraFreqNeighCellInfo
[0415] IntraFreqNeighCellInfo::=SEQUENCE{
[0416] LPWAAccessAllowed-xy ENUMERATED(true)OPTIONAL
[0417] }
[0418] For example, the main signaling configuration for inter-frequency cells can be:
[0419] InterFreqNeighCellList::=SEQUENCE(SIZE(1..maxCellInter))OFInterFreqNeighCellInfo
[0420] InterFreqNeighCellInfo::=SEQUENCE{
[0421] LPWAAccessAllowed-rxy ENUMERATED(true)OPTIONAL
[0422] }
[0423] In another configuration, for both intra-frequency and inter-frequency cells, each frequency point is associated with a cell list. This cell list contains information about cells supporting the first characteristic. If a frequency point is not associated with this cell list, it is assumed that there are no cells supporting the first characteristic, cells that allow access by terminals using the first characteristic, or cells that allow access by terminals operating in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic under that frequency point. The terminal obtains information about cells supporting the first characteristic, cells that allow access by terminals using the first characteristic, or cells that allow access by terminals operating in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic under each frequency point through this cell list information. Alternatively, each frequency point can also be associated with a cell list. This cell list contains information about cells that do not support the first characteristic, cells that do not allow access by terminals using the first characteristic, or cells that allow access by terminals operating in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic. If a frequency point is not associated with this cell list, it is assumed that all cells under that frequency point support the first characteristic, allow access by terminals using the first characteristic, or allow access by terminals operating in the mode corresponding to the first characteristic.
[0424] For example, the main signaling configuration of a co-frequency cell can be:
[0425] Add "IntraFreqNeighLPWA-CellList-r17 IntraFreqNeighLPWA-CellList OPTIONAL" to SIB3.
[0426] IntraFreqNeighLPWA-CellList-rxy::=SEQUENCE(SIZE(1..maxCellIntra))OFPCI-Range
[0427] For example, the main signaling configuration for inter-frequency cells can be:
[0428] InterFreqCarrierFreqList-LPWA::=SEQUENCE(SIZE(1..maxFreq))OFInterFreqCarrierFreqInfo-LPWA
[0429] InterFreqCarrierFreqList-LPWA::=SEQUENCE{
[0430] interFreqNeighLPWA-CellList-rxy InterFreqNeighLPWA-CellList OPTIONAL
[0431] }
[0432] InterFreqNeighLPWA-CellList-rxy::=SEQUENCE(SIZE(1..MaxCellInter))OFPCI-Range
[0433] Alternatively, in another case, the third information is used to indicate a second parameter, which is used to support or apply the first feature to perform cell reselection.
[0434] Optionally, the terminal may apply a second parameter when calculating the signal strength (including cell received power or cell received quality) of neighboring cells associated with that frequency point. This second parameter can be added to or subtracted from the signal strength. The network will not configure this second parameter for other cells that do not support the first feature, and therefore, it does not need to consider this second parameter when calculating the signal strength of neighboring cells.
[0435] It should be noted that the second parameter can make the signal strength of a cell that supports the first feature higher than that of a cell that does not support the first feature during the calculation, so that the terminal using the first feature can preferentially camp on the cell that supports the first feature.
[0436] This scenario presents a cell reselection scheme based on the first characteristic, which ensures that the cell supporting the first characteristic is reselected as quickly as possible, thereby improving the success rate of terminal reselection.
[0437] III. Terminal execution A13
[0438] Alternatively, in this case, it can be divided into selecting the cell and selecting the core network equipment. The following will explain these two cases separately.
[0439] Scenario 1: When the first characteristic changes, select a core network device that matches the changed characteristic.
[0440] Optionally, in this case, the method further includes:
[0441] If the first condition is met, the terminal sends a registration request message to the registered core network device.
[0442] The terminal receives a deregistration request response message sent by the core network device;
[0443] The first condition includes one or more of the following:
[0444] The core network equipment for terminal registration does not support the modified features of the terminal application or does not allow terminals that have applied the modified features to access the network.
[0445] There are other core network devices that support the modified features of the terminal application or other core network devices that allow terminals that have applied the modified features to access the network.
[0446] The terminal does not have any emergency services.
[0447] Optionally, the deregistration request message carries at least one of E11-E12:
[0448] E11. Reason for terminal deregistration;
[0449] Optionally, the reason for deregistration may indicate that the characteristics of the terminal application have changed, or that the current core network device does not support the changed characteristics of the terminal, or that the current core network device does not allow the terminal that has applied the changed characteristics of the terminal to access.
[0450] E12, First Request Information, used to request the core network device to send at least one of the following: other core network devices that support the changed features of the terminal application, other core network devices that allow terminals that have applied the changed features of the terminal to access, and other core network devices that allow terminals that operate in the working mode corresponding to the changed features of the terminal to access.
[0451] Optionally, the deregistration request response message carries first response information, which carries at least one of the following: information on other core network devices that support the changed features of the terminal application; information on other core network devices that allow terminals that have applied the changed features of the terminal to access; information on other core network devices that allow terminals that operate in the working mode corresponding to the changed features of the terminal to access; the information on other core network devices includes the identifier or priority of one or more core network devices.
[0452] Optionally, the deregistration request response message carries the first response information only if the deregistration request message sent by the terminal contains the first request information.
[0453] Optionally, after selecting a core network device matching the changed characteristics when the first characteristic changes, the method further includes:
[0454] The terminal sends a registration request message to the selected core network device that supports the modified features or to the core network device that allows terminals to access the modified features.
[0455] Optionally, the terminal can select the core network device to be registered based on the stored core network device information, or it can select the core network device to be registered based on the terminal itself, or it can select the core network device to be registered based on the first response information.
[0456] For example, if a terminal switches from using LPWA features to not using LPWA features, and the terminal registers with a core network device that only supports LPWA features or a core network device that only allows terminals using LPWA features to access the network, then the core network device registered by the terminal cannot meet the terminal's normal operation requirements. In this case, the terminal needs to send a deregistration request message to the core network device and select a core network device that supports eMBB working mode or eMBB features for registration.
[0457] Optionally, the method further includes:
[0458] Under the condition that the terminal meets the second condition, it can operate in a core network device that does not allow terminals operating in the mode corresponding to the first feature or terminals applying the first feature to access the network. The second condition includes at least one of the following:
[0459] The terminal has an emergency service in progress;
[0460] The core network device sends a third indication message to indicate one or more of the following: the core network device allows emergency registration, the core network device allows emergency access, and terminals that support the application of modified features can operate on the core network device in the presence of emergency services.
[0461] This situation can be understood as follows: if the terminal has urgent business or the core network equipment sends a third instruction message, the terminal can skip the deregistration process and work under the current core network equipment.
[0462] It should be noted that, assuming some core network devices support terminal access for the first characteristic or allow access for terminals that apply the first characteristic or operate in the corresponding working mode, while other core network devices do not support terminal access for the first characteristic or do not allow access for terminals that apply the first characteristic or operate in the corresponding working mode, then terminals that support or apply the first characteristic need to register with core network devices that support the first characteristic or with core network devices that allow access for terminals that apply the first characteristic or operate in the corresponding working mode. Terminals that do not support or apply the first characteristic need to register with core network devices that support the second characteristic or with core network devices that allow access for terminals that apply the second characteristic or operate in the corresponding working mode, and cannot register with core network devices that only support the first characteristic or with core network devices that allow access for terminals that apply the first characteristic or operate in the corresponding working mode. However, there exists a terminal that can operate using both the first and second characteristics; therefore, when the characteristics of this terminal are changed, a suitable core network must be selected accordingly. This implementation of the present application provides a way to determine how a terminal supporting two or more characteristics can select the appropriate core network device to work on when the characteristics of its application change, thus ensuring the normal operation of the terminal and improving the communication reliability of the terminal.
[0463] Scenario 2: When the first characteristic changes, select a cell that matches the changed characteristic.
[0464] Optionally, in this case, selecting a cell that matches the changed characteristics when the first characteristic changes includes:
[0465] If the third condition is met, the terminal will perform cell selection or cell reselection.
[0466] The third condition includes one or more of the following:
[0467] The cell where the terminal is hosted cannot support the changed features of the terminal application;
[0468] The cell where the terminal is hosted does not allow terminals that have applied the modified features of the terminal to access the cell.
[0469] Other cells exist that support the modified features of the terminal application;
[0470] There are other cells that allow terminals with modified terminal features to access the network;
[0471] The terminal does not have any emergency services.
[0472] For example, if a terminal switches from using LPWA features to not using LPWA features, and the terminal camps on a cell that only supports LPWA features, then the cell where the terminal camps cannot meet the normal working requirements of the terminal. Therefore, the terminal needs to leave the cell and choose a cell that supports eMBB working mode or eMBB features to camp on.
[0473] Optionally, when the cell where the terminal is currently camped sends third information or when the terminal leaves the RRC_CONNECTED state, the access network device sends third information using an RRC release message. The third information is a frequency level or cell level, used to indicate neighboring cell information or neighboring frequency information that supports the terminal characteristics (e.g., supporting the first characteristic or supporting the second characteristic).
[0474] Optionally, the terminal performs cell selection or cell reselection, selecting a cell that matches the changed characteristics.
[0475] Optionally, the terminal can select based on stored cell information or frequency information (e.g., whether a cell or frequency supports the first feature or the second feature), or based on terminal implementation, or based on third information.
[0476] Optionally, the method further includes:
[0477] The terminal will operate in the cell where it is stationed if the fourth condition is met.
[0478] The fourth condition includes one or more of the following:
[0479] The terminal currently has an emergency service in operation;
[0480] The cell sent a fourth instruction message to indicate one or more of the following: the cell allows emergency registration, the cell allows emergency access, and terminals that support or allow modified features to operate in the cell in the presence of emergency services.
[0481] This situation can be understood as follows: if the terminal has an emergency service or the cell sends a fourth instruction message, the terminal may not perform the cell selection or cell reselection process, but instead work in the cell where it is currently stationed.
[0482] It should be noted that, assuming some access network devices support terminal access with the first feature, or allow terminal access with the first feature applied, or allow terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the first feature, while other access network devices do not support terminal access with the first feature, or do not allow terminal access with the first feature applied, or do not allow terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the first feature, then terminals that support or apply the first feature need to camp in the cell associated with the access network device supporting the first feature, or in the cell that allows terminal access with the first feature applied, or in the cell that allows terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the first feature. Terminals that do not support or do not apply the first feature need to camp in the cell associated with the access network device supporting the second feature, or in the cell that allows terminal access with the second feature applied, or in the cell that allows terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the second feature, and cannot camp in the cell associated with the access network device that only supports the first feature, or in the cell that only allows terminal access with the first feature applied, or in the cell that only allows terminal access operating in the working mode corresponding to the first feature. However, there exists a terminal that can operate using both the first and second characteristics. Therefore, when the terminal's characteristics change, it needs to select a suitable cell to operate. This implementation in this application assumes that the access network device supports different characteristics. It addresses how a terminal supporting two or more characteristics selects a suitable cell when its own characteristics change, ensuring the normal operation of the terminal and thus improving its communication reliability.
[0483] It should be noted that the embodiments of this application provide methods for ensuring that the terminal selects the appropriate core network equipment and cell, and for ensuring that the terminal quickly selects the appropriate core network equipment and cell, when the terminal supports both the first feature and the second feature, and there are core network equipment or base stations that only support the first feature, do not support the first feature, or support both the first feature and the second feature. This ensures that the terminal can work normally in any working state, such as RRC_IDLE / RRC_INACTIVE / RRC_CONNECTED.
[0484] like Figure 3 As shown in the figure, this application provides an information transmission method, including:
[0485] Step 301: The access network device sends one or more of the following to the terminal:
