Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This case concerns the field of audio processing, and in particular audio output enhancement devices and systems. Background Technology
[0002] As the performance of portable electronic devices (such as laptops) improves, users' demands for multimedia (such as audio effects) are also increasing. Portable electronic devices generally have built-in speakers, but due to the miniaturization requirements of portable electronic devices, the built-in speakers are usually small and thin micro-speakers. Micro-speakers have better performance in mid-high frequencies (such as audio frequencies above 550Hz) and poorer performance in low frequencies (such as audio frequencies below 400Hz). If the built-in speakers of portable electronic devices are implemented with full-range speakers (such as a large subwoofer, plus one or two smaller mid-high frequency speakers, which have a certain performance in both mid-high and low frequencies), in addition to failing to meet the miniaturization requirements of portable electronic devices, the built-in speakers (especially subwoofers) will resonate with the portable electronic device during operation, causing strong vibrations to the device's body, resulting in user discomfort. Furthermore, if users use external speakers on portable electronic devices to play audio due to the poor sound quality of the built-in speakers, the built-in speakers will not function and will be rendered useless. Therefore, how to provide good sound quality while meeting the requirements of miniaturization of portable electronic devices and maintaining the operation of the built-in speakers is an urgent problem to be solved. Summary of the Invention
[0003] In view of the above, this application provides an audio output enhancement device and system thereof. The audio output enhancement device includes a transmission interface, a processing circuit, and a second speaker. The transmission interface is adapted to connect to an electronic device to receive input audio. The electronic device includes a first speaker. The processing circuit is connected to the transmission interface, generates a first output audio and a second output audio based on the input audio, and sends the first output audio to the electronic device via the transmission interface, so that the first speaker of the electronic device plays the first output audio. The second speaker is connected to the processing circuit and plays the second output audio.
[0004] An audio output enhancement system includes electronic devices and an audio output enhancement device. The electronic devices include a first speaker, a first transmission interface, and a control circuit. The control circuit is connected to the first speaker and the first transmission interface, generating and transmitting input audio. The audio output enhancement device includes a second transmission interface, a processing circuit, and a second speaker. The second transmission interface receives the input audio via the first transmission interface. The processing circuit is connected to the second transmission interface, generates a first output audio and a second output audio based on the input audio, and sends the first output audio to the control circuit via the second transmission interface and the first transmission interface, so that the control circuit controls the first speaker to play the first output audio. The second speaker is connected to the processing circuit and plays the second output audio.
[0005] In summary, based on some embodiments, this invention can provide good sound quality while miniaturizing the electronic device and ensuring the operation of the first speaker (specifically, built into the electronic device). In particular, it can compensate for the relatively weak bass performance of the first speaker, achieving complete audio output across the entire frequency range. Attached Figure Description

[0034] Reference Figure 1 This is a schematic diagram of an audio output enhancement system 10 according to some embodiments of this invention. The audio output enhancement system 10 includes an electronic device 20 and an audio output enhancement device 30. The audio output enhancement device 30 is connected to the electronic device 20. The electronic device 20 includes a speaker (hereinafter referred to as a first speaker 21), a transmission interface (hereinafter referred to as a first transmission interface 23), and a control circuit 25. The electronic device 20 is, for example, a portable electronic device such as a laptop computer or tablet computer. The first speaker 21 is a built-in speaker of the electronic device 20. The control circuit 25 is connected to the first speaker 21 and the first transmission interface 23. The control circuit 25 generates and transmits input audio. The input audio is, for example, an audio source that a user wishes to play.
[0035] The audio output enhancement device 30 includes a speaker (hereinafter referred to as the second speaker 31), a transmission interface (hereinafter referred to as the second transmission interface 33), and a processing circuit 35. The second transmission interface 33 is connected to the first transmission interface 23 of the electronic device 20 to receive input audio from the electronic device 20. The processing circuit 35 is connected to the second speaker 31 and the second transmission interface 33. The processing circuit 35 generates a first output audio and a second output audio based on the input audio, and sends the first output audio to the control circuit 25 of the electronic device 20 via the transmission interface (i.e., sequentially via the second transmission interface 33 and the first transmission interface 23), so that the control circuit 25 controls the first speaker 21 to play the first output audio. The processing circuit 35 outputs the second output audio to the second speaker 31 and controls the second speaker 31 to play the second output audio. The processing circuit 35 is, for example, a microprocessor, an application-specific integrated circuit, or other computing circuit. Thus, the first speaker 21 and the second speaker 31 can operate together to play the input audio using the first and second output audio.
[0036] In some embodiments, the first speaker 21 is a mid-high frequency speaker, and the second speaker 31 is a subwoofer. The mid-high frequency speaker can be implemented using a miniature speaker (e.g., a speaker with a small modulus) and has better performance in the mid-high frequency range, while the subwoofer can be implemented using a larger speaker (e.g., a speaker with a large modulus) and has better performance in the low frequency range. By using a built-in speaker (i.e., the first speaker 21) implemented as a mid-high frequency speaker, the miniaturization requirements of the electronic device 20 can be met. By using a built-in speaker (i.e., the first speaker 21) implemented as a mid-high frequency speaker and an external speaker (i.e., the second speaker 31) implemented as a subwoofer, they can complement each other and have better audio performance across the entire frequency range.
[0037] In some embodiments, the frequency of the first output audio is not less than a first frequency threshold, and the frequency domain of the second output audio is less than the first frequency threshold. That is, the first output audio corresponds to the mid-to-high frequency range of the input audio, and the second output audio corresponds to the low frequency range of the input audio. In other words, the first and second output audio are complementary in the frequency domain to combine to form the full frequency range of the input audio. Thus, the first and second output audio can be adapted to the first speaker 21 and the second speaker 31 respectively to present better sound effects.
[0038] In other words, in some embodiments, frequency band division of output can be achieved, with the first speaker 21 handling the mid-to-high frequencies and the second speaker 31 outputting the low frequencies. This reduces full-band aliasing, making the sound clearer, enhancing the stereo effect, and creating a more immersive spatial experience. The first frequency threshold can be the lower frequency limit corresponding to when the first speaker 21 delivers optimal sound quality and / or the upper frequency limit corresponding to when the second speaker 31 delivers optimal sound quality. For example, the first frequency threshold can be 600Hz. In other embodiments, the first output audio and the second output audio respectively correspond to the full frequency range of the input audio.
[0039] Reference Figure 2 This is a schematic diagram of an audio output enhancement system 10 according to some embodiments of this invention. In some embodiments, the control circuit 25 includes a processor 251 and an audio codec 253. The processor 251 is connected to a first transmission interface 23. The audio codec 253 is connected to the processor 251, the first transmission interface 23, and a first speaker 21. The processor 251 is used to generate input audio. The processor 251 sends the input audio to the processing circuit 35 of the audio output enhancement device 30 via the transmission interface (i.e., sequentially via the first transmission interface 23 and the second transmission interface 33).
[0040] Processor 251 is, for example, a central processing unit, a microprocessor, an application-specific integrated circuit, or other arithmetic circuitry. Audio codec 253 is used to perform audio encoding and decoding processing on the input signal. For example, audio codec 253 performs audio encoding and decoding processing on the first output audio from processing circuit 35, and outputs the first output audio with audio encoding and decoding processing to the first speaker 21 for playback.
[0041] Since the processing circuit 35 has a stronger computing power than the audio codec 253, compared to processing the input audio with the audio codec 253, using the processing circuit 35 to decode the input audio into a first output audio and a second output audio not only reduces audio playback latency but also improves overall sound quality and signal-to-noise ratio, making the sound clearer and purer while reducing distortion and noise. Simultaneously, the processing circuit 35 can handle a wider dynamic range, making the sound more vivid and powerful. Furthermore, this method also reduces the processing load on the control circuit 25 and the audio codec 253, further enhancing system stability.
[0042] In some embodiments, the processing circuit 35 includes a low-pass filter and a high-pass filter. The high-pass filter performs high-pass filtering on the input audio to generate a first output audio, and the low-pass filter performs low-pass filtering on the input audio to generate a second output audio. The cutoff frequency of the high-pass filter and the low-pass filter is a first frequency threshold. The high-pass filter and the low-pass filter can be implemented by a circuit composed of at least one of passive components (e.g., resistors, inductors, and capacitors) and active components (e.g., transistors).
[0043] In some embodiments, the processing circuit 35 further includes an amplification circuit to amplify the second output audio and output the amplified second output audio to the second speaker 31. In some embodiments, the audio codec 253 includes an amplification circuit to amplify the first output audio and output the amplified first output audio to the first speaker 21.
[0044] Reference Figure 3 and Figure 4 As shown. Figure 3 and Figure 4 This is a detailed circuit diagram of a low-pass filter according to some embodiments of this invention. In some embodiments, the low-pass filter can be implemented by a single inductor (e.g., a first inductor L1). Specifically, as... Figure 3 As shown, one end of the first inductor L1 receives the input audio IN, and the other end of the first inductor L1 is connected to a speaker (e.g., the second speaker 31).
[0045] In other embodiments, such as Figure 4 As shown, a low-pass filter can be implemented using two inductors (e.g., a second inductor L2 and a third inductor L3) and two capacitors (e.g., a first capacitor C1 and a second capacitor C2). Specifically, one end of the first capacitor C1 receives the input audio IN, and the other end of the first capacitor C1 is connected to the second inductor L2. The third inductor L3 is connected in series with the second capacitor C2 to form a series circuit, which is connected in parallel with the second inductor L2. A loudspeaker (e.g., a second loudspeaker 31) is connected in parallel with the second capacitor C2.
[0046] like Figure 2 As shown, in some embodiments, the first transmission interface 23 and the second transmission interface 33 are corresponding connection interfaces. Specifically, the first transmission interface 23 and the second transmission interface 33 are connection interfaces that support the same type of audio transmission. Each connection interface includes a first audio transmission pin AT1 and a second audio transmission pin AT2. The same pin of different connection interfaces can be connected to each other. Input audio is transmitted via the first audio transmission pin AT1 of each connection interface. That is, the processing circuit 35 of the audio output enhancement device 30 receives input audio from the processor 251 of the electronic device 20 via the first audio transmission pin AT1 of each connection interface.
[0047] The first output audio is transmitted via the second audio transmission pin AT2 of each of the connection interfaces. That is, the processing circuit 35 of the audio output enhancement device 30 sends the first output audio to the audio codec 253 of the electronic device 20 via the second audio transmission pin AT2 of each of the connection interfaces. In some embodiments, each audio transmission pin (i.e., each of the first audio transmission pin AT1 and the second audio transmission pin AT2) includes multiple signal lines. In some embodiments, the first audio transmission pin AT1 and the second audio transmission pin AT2 each support different audio transmission protocols. For example, the signal lines in the first audio transmission pin AT1 support the SDCA (SoundWire Device Class Audio) protocol, and the signal lines in the second audio transmission pin AT2 support I... 2 S (Inter-IC Sound or Integrated InterchipSound) protocol.
[0048] In some embodiments, each connection interface further includes a power pin VDD and a ground pin GND. The power pin VDD is connected to the power supply terminal (not shown) of the corresponding device (e.g., electronic device 20 or audio output enhancement device 30). The ground pin GND is connected to the ground terminal (not shown) of the corresponding device (e.g., electronic device 20 or audio output enhancement device 30). Since the same pins of different connection interfaces can be mated to each other, electronic device 20 and audio output enhancement device 30 can transmit power supply voltage via the power pin VDD of each connection interface and transmit ground voltage via the ground pin GND of each connection interface.
[0049] In some embodiments, each connection interface further includes a detection pin DT. When the detection pins DT of different connection interfaces are not yet connected, the voltage level of the detection pin DT remains unchanged, indicating that the different connection interfaces are not connected to each other, that is, the electronic device 20 has not successfully connected to the audio output enhancement device 30. When the detection pins DT of different connection interfaces are connected to each other, a voltage level change occurs (e.g., the detection pin DT is pulled down to a low level voltage or pulled up to a high level voltage), indicating that the different connection interfaces have been connected to each other, that is, the electronic device 20 has successfully connected to the audio output enhancement device 30.
[0050] like Figure 1 As shown, in some embodiments, the first transmission interface 23 and the second transmission interface 33 are corresponding wireless communication interfaces. Specifically, the first transmission interface 23 and the second transmission interface 33 are wireless communication interfaces that support the same communication protocol. Communication protocols include, for example, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks.
[0051] Reference Figure 5 This is a schematic diagram of the audio output enhancement system 10 according to some embodiments of this invention. In some embodiments, the audio output enhancement device 30 further includes a setting module 37. The setting module 37 is connected to the processing circuit 35. The setting module 37 can be implemented by an electronic switch or an operation interface. The setting module 37 sets the processing circuit 35 to a first audio processing mode or a second audio processing mode in response to user input. In the first audio processing mode, the processing circuit 35 generates a first output audio and a second output audio based on the input audio, and sends the first output audio to the control circuit 25 (specifically its audio codec 253) of the electronic device 20 via a transmission interface (i.e., sequentially via the second transmission interface 33 and the first transmission interface 23), so that the control circuit 25 controls the first speaker 21 to play the first output audio and the second speaker 31 to play the second output audio. That is, in the first audio processing mode, the first speaker 21 and the second speaker 31 can operate together, and the sound source of the first speaker 21 (i.e., the first output audio) is provided by the audio output enhancement device 30.
[0052] In the second audio processing mode, the processing circuit 35 generates a second output audio based on the input audio for playback by the second speaker 31, and cancels the generation and transmission of the first output audio. Meanwhile, the control circuit 25 of the electronic device 20 generates a third output audio based on the input audio, causing the first speaker 21 to play the third output audio. For example, the processor 251 of the control circuit 25 of the electronic device 20 generates a third output audio based on the input audio and sends it to the audio codec 253. The audio codec 253 performs audio encoding and decoding processing on the third output audio and provides the processed third output audio to the first speaker 21 for playback. In other words, compared to the first audio processing mode, in the second audio processing mode, the first speaker 21 and the second speaker 31 can operate together, but the sound source of the first speaker 21 (i.e., the third output audio) is generated by the electronic device 20 itself, rather than provided by the audio output enhancement device 30. In other words, neither the first nor the second audio processing mode sacrifices the built-in speaker (i.e., the first speaker 21) to render it useless.
[0053] In some embodiments, the amplifier circuit of the audio codec 253 amplifies the third output audio and outputs the amplified third output audio to the first speaker 21.
[0054] In some embodiments, the frequency of the third output audio is not less than the second frequency threshold. That is, the third output audio corresponds to the mid-to-high frequency range of the input audio. In some embodiments, the second and third output audios are complementary in the frequency domain to combine to form the full frequency range of the input audio. Thus, the third and second output audios can be adapted to the first speaker 21 implemented as a mid-high frequency speaker and the second speaker 31 implemented as a subwoofer to present better sound effects, respectively. The second frequency threshold may be the lower frequency limit corresponding to the first speaker 21 when presenting better sound effects. For example, the second frequency threshold may be 600Hz. In some embodiments, the third output audio is similar to the first output audio. In some embodiments, the second frequency threshold is similar to the first frequency threshold. In other embodiments, the third output audio corresponds to the full frequency range of the input audio.
[0055] In some embodiments, the control circuit 25 further includes a low-pass filter connected between the processor 251 and the audio codec 253. The low-pass filter performs low-pass filtering on the input audio from the processor 251 to generate a third output audio, and outputs the third output audio to the audio codec 253 for audio encoding and decoding processing. The encoded and decoded third output audio is then provided to the first speaker 21 for playback. The cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter is a second frequency threshold. The structure of the low-pass filter in the control circuit 25 is similar to that of the low-pass filter in the processing circuit 35 and will not be described again.
[0056] In some embodiments, the control circuit 25 of the electronic device 20 detects the connection status of the audio output enhancement device 30 via the first transmission interface 23 to determine whether the audio output enhancement device 30 is in an active or inactive mode. In an example where the first transmission interface 23 and the second transmission interface 33 are corresponding connection interfaces, the processor 251 of the control circuit 25 of the electronic device 20 detects the connection status of the audio output enhancement device 30 via the detection pin DT (e.g., ...) of the first transmission interface 23. Figure 2 and Figure 5 (As shown) The connection status of the audio output enhancement device 30 is detected. When the voltage level of the detection pin DT remains unchanged, it indicates that the audio output enhancement device 30 has not been successfully connected to the electronic device 20. At this time, the electronic device 20 determines that the connection status of the audio output enhancement device 30 is not connected, and the audio output enhancement device 30 is in the off mode. When the voltage level of the detection pin DT changes due to the successful connection of the audio output enhancement device 30 to the electronic device 20, the electronic device 20 determines that the connection status of the audio output enhancement device 30 is connected, and the audio output enhancement device 30 is in the start mode to perform the aforementioned operations related to the audio output enhancement device 30.
[0057] In the example where the first transmission interface 23 and the second transmission interface 33 are corresponding wireless communication interfaces, the processor 251 of the control circuit 25 of the electronic device 20 detects the connection status of the audio output enhancement device 30 via a handshake protocol between the first transmission interface 23 and the second transmission interface 33. If the handshake fails, it indicates that the audio output enhancement device 30 has not successfully connected to the electronic device 20. At this time, the electronic device 20 determines that the connection status of the audio output enhancement device 30 is not connected, and the audio output enhancement device 30 is in a turned-off mode. If the handshake succeeds, the electronic device 20 determines that the connection status of the audio output enhancement device 30 is connected, and the audio output enhancement device 30 is in an activated mode to perform the aforementioned actions related to the audio output enhancement device 30. When the audio output enhancement device 30 is in a turned-off mode, the control circuit 25 of the electronic device 20 generates a third output audio based on the input audio, causing the first speaker 21 to play the third output audio. That is, at this time, the second speaker 31 does not operate, and only the first speaker 21 operates.
[0058] In some embodiments, the diaphragm of the second speaker 31 faces the mounting base of the second speaker 31. The mounting base of the second speaker 31 contacts a field (e.g., a desktop). Thus, when the second speaker 31 is operating, the field can reflect the vibration waves of the diaphragm to enhance the user's experience.
[0059] In summary, according to some embodiments, this invention can provide good sound effects while satisfying the miniaturization of the electronic device and the continued operation of the first speaker (specifically, it is built into the electronic device); in particular, it can compensate for the relatively unsatisfactory bass performance of the first speaker, achieve complete audio output across the entire frequency range, output higher sound pressure levels (SPL), and respond quickly to transient low frequencies.
[0060] Of course, the present invention may have other various embodiments. Without departing from the spirit and essence of the present invention, those skilled in the art can make various corresponding changes and modifications according to the present invention, but these corresponding changes and modifications should all fall within the protection scope of the claims of the present invention.
