Description

Technical Field

[0001] This invention relates to a fixing element and an applicable assembly structure thereof, and more particularly to a fixing element disposed in an assembly structure, having a dual function, to simultaneously fix two objects in opposite directions, thereby achieving the assembly of the assembly structure. Background Technology

[0002] When encapsulating a printed circuit board (PCB) within a lower housing of a plastic casing, several problems often arise due to limited available space. For example, if the PCB is secured to the lower housing using the upper housing, the upper housing cannot be removed after assembly. On the other hand, if a detachable mounting structure is used to secure the PCB and upper housing separately to the lower housing, it increases the space required and manufacturing costs.

[0003] Therefore, it is necessary to develop a fixing element and its suitable assembly structure to improve the above-mentioned problems. Summary of the Invention

[0004] The purpose of this invention is to provide a fixing element and its applicable assembly structure, which can overcome the defects in the prior art.

[0005] Another object of the present invention is to provide a fixing element disposed in an assembly structure for simultaneously fixing the upper housing and the intermediate object to the lower housing.

[0006] To achieve the above objectives, embodiments of the present invention provide a fixing element suitable for an assembly structure comprising a lower housing, an intermediate component, and an upper housing. The fixing element includes a main body, a first engaging protrusion, and a second engaging protrusion. The main body has a first surface and a second surface opposite to each other. The first engaging protrusion is disposed on the first surface, and the second engaging protrusion is disposed on the second surface. The main body is disposed on the lower housing, with the first engaging protrusion facing inwards and the second engaging protrusion facing outwards. The fixing element engages the intermediate component with the first engaging protrusion and engages the upper housing with the second engaging protrusion, thereby simultaneously fixing the intermediate component and the upper housing to the lower housing, thus completing the assembly of the assembly structure and maintaining the intermediate component between the upper and lower housings.

[0007] In one embodiment, the main structure is configured to provide a first deformation toward a first surface and a second deformation toward a second surface.

[0008] In one embodiment, the engagement and disengagement between the first engaging protrusion and the intermediate object are achieved by a second deformation, and the engagement and disengagement between the second engaging protrusion and the upper housing are achieved by a first deformation.

[0009] In one embodiment, the first engaging protrusion engages with the edge of the intermediate object.

[0010] In one embodiment, the intermediate object includes another edge opposite to the first edge, the fastener is disposed on the lower housing at a position opposite to the fixing element, and when the intermediate object is assembled to the lower housing, the intermediate object is in an inclined state with the first edge higher than the second edge, so that the second edge engages with the fastener, and then the first edge moves downward to engage below the first engagement protrusion, wherein the downward movement of the first edge causes a second deformation.

[0011] In one embodiment, the first engaging protrusion has a first inclined surface disposed on its upper part, and the first inclined surface extends from top to bottom in a direction gradually toward the interior of the lower housing, and the edge moves downward along the first inclined surface to cause a second deformation.

[0012] In one embodiment, the edge is further provided with a recess corresponding to the first engaging protrusion.

[0013] In one embodiment, the recess has a recess distance relative to the edge of the edge, the first engaging protrusion has a first protrusion distance relative to the first surface, and the recess distance is less than the first protrusion distance.

[0014] In one embodiment, when the intermediate object separates from the lower housing, a second deformation is formed by an external force to release the engagement between the first engaging protrusion and the edge of the intermediate object.

[0015] In one embodiment, the upper housing further includes a third engaging protrusion disposed on the inner surface of the upper housing, corresponding to and engaging with the second engaging protrusion.

[0016] In one embodiment, when the upper housing is assembled to the lower housing, the upper housing moves downward in a state that is substantially parallel to the lower housing until the third engaging protrusion engages below the second engaging protrusion, wherein the downward movement of the upper housing causes a first deformation.

[0017] In one embodiment, the second engaging protrusion has a second inclined surface disposed on its upper part, and the second inclined surface extends from top to bottom in a direction gradually toward the outside of the lower housing, wherein the third engaging protrusion moves downward along the second inclined surface to cause a first deformation.

[0018] In one embodiment, the third engaging protrusion has a third inclined surface disposed at its lower part, and the third inclined surface extends from top to bottom in a direction gradually toward the outside of the lower housing.

[0019] In one embodiment, the second engagement protrusion has a second protrusion distance relative to the second surface, and the third protrusion has a third protrusion distance relative to the inner surface of the upper housing, and the third protrusion distance is less than the second protrusion distance.

[0020] In one embodiment, when the upper housing and the lower housing are separated, the side of the upper housing that is engaged with the second engaging protrusion moves upward, so that the third engaging protrusion applies an upward force to the second engaging protrusion and causes a first deformation, thereby releasing the engagement between the second engaging protrusion and the third engaging protrusion.

[0021] In one embodiment, the first engaging protrusion has a gap with the intermediate object to provide space for forming the first deformation when the upper and lower housings are separated.

[0022] In one embodiment, the lower housing includes a sidewall for accommodating a body, and the body extends upward from and substantially parallel to the sidewall, and wherein the height of a first engaging protrusion relative to the bottom surface of the lower housing is lower than the height of a second engaging protrusion relative to the bottom surface of the lower housing and higher than the height of the upper edge of the sidewall relative to the bottom surface of the lower housing.

[0023] To achieve the above objectives, embodiments of the present invention also provide an assembly structure, comprising a lower housing, an upper housing disposed above the lower housing, an intermediate component disposed between the lower housing and the upper housing, and the aforementioned fixing element. The fixing element is disposed on the lower housing to simultaneously fix the intermediate component and the upper housing to the lower housing, thereby completing the assembly of the assembly structure and maintaining the intermediate component between the upper housing and the lower housing.

[0024] In one embodiment, the intermediate element comprises a plate-like element and is maintained in the assembly structure in a state that is generally parallel to the bottom surface of the lower housing.

[0025] In one embodiment, the intermediate object includes a circuit board, and the upper and lower housings are assembled together to house the circuit board therebetween.

[0026] The beneficial effects of this invention are that, through the structural design of the dual-function fixing element in the embodiments of this invention, the upper housing can be easily removed from the lower housing after assembly, which facilitates the maintenance of intermediate components in the assembly structure. Furthermore, since both the intermediate components and the upper housing in the assembly structure can be fixed simultaneously by a single dual-function fixing element, not only is space saved, but manufacturing costs are also reduced. [0035] Some typical embodiments embodying the features and advantages of the present invention will be described in detail in the following description. It should be understood that the present invention can be varied in different ways without departing from the scope of the invention, and the descriptions and illustrations herein are for illustrative purposes only and not intended to limit the invention.

[0036] See Figure 1 and Figure 2 . Figure 1 An exploded view of an assembly structure employing fixed components according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown, and Figure 2 This diagram shows an enlarged view of a fixing element according to an embodiment of the present invention. The assembly structure 1 of this embodiment includes a lower housing 10, an intermediate element 20, and an upper housing 30, which are sequentially assembled such that the intermediate element 20 is held in the assembly structure 1 in a state substantially parallel to the bottom surface 16 of the lower housing 10. For example, the assembly structure 1 may be an electronic device, and the intermediate element 20 may include a circuit board with components disposed thereon, but is not limited thereto. In some embodiments, the circuit board may be a printed circuit board (PCB). The assembly structure 1 may be a device assembled from separate housings and having an intermediate element, such as a plate-like element, held therein by any kind of device.

[0037] In embodiments of the present invention, a fixing element 12 is further provided to facilitate the assembly and disassembly of the assembly structure 1. Generally, when assembling an assembly structure comprising an upper housing, an intermediate component, and a lower housing, the upper housing and the intermediate component are fixed to the lower housing using different components. For example, the intermediate component is fixed with screws, and the upper and lower housings are fixed using a structural interlocking mechanism. Therefore, the assembly process is not only complex but also time-consuming. Furthermore, the interlocking structure between the lower and upper housings is usually designed to be difficult to disassemble to ensure a secure connection of the assembly structure. For example, it may be necessary to break the housing to disassemble it, which increases the difficulty of maintenance. Accordingly, the fixing element 12 used in the assembly structure 1 in embodiments of the present invention aims to simplify the assembly process, reduce assembly time, and provide the possibility of maintenance while ensuring a secure connection of the assembly structure.

[0038] In embodiments of the present invention, the fixing element 12 is disposed on the side wall 11 of the lower housing 10, for example, on the upper edge 14 of the side wall 11, and the fixing element 12 is a dual-function fixing element 12. The fixing element 12 includes a main body 121, a first engaging protrusion 122, and a second engaging protrusion 123. The main body 121 extends upward from the side wall 11 and is generally parallel to the side wall 11. The main body 121 includes a first surface 1211 and a second surface 1212 facing each other, wherein the first surface 1211 faces the interior of the lower housing 10, and the second surface 1212 faces the exterior of the lower housing 10. The first engaging protrusion 122 is disposed on the first surface 1211, and the second engaging protrusion 123 is disposed on the second surface 1212, wherein the first engaging protrusion 122 is configured to protrude towards the interior of the lower housing 10, and the second engaging protrusion 123 is configured to protrude towards the exterior of the lower housing 10. In other words, the first engaging protrusion 122 and the second engaging protrusion 123 extend from the main body 121 in opposite directions.

[0039] The height of the first engaging protrusion 122 relative to the bottom surface 16 of the lower housing 10 is lower than the height of the second engaging protrusion 123 relative to the bottom surface 16 of the lower housing 10. That is, the first engaging protrusion 122 is lower than the second engaging protrusion 123 in the Z-axis direction. Furthermore, the height of the first engaging protrusion 122 relative to the bottom surface 16 of the lower housing 10 is higher than the height of the upper edge 14 of the lower housing 10 relative to the bottom surface 16. That is, the first engaging protrusion 122 is higher than the upper edge 14 in the Z-axis direction. Moreover, since the fixing element 12 extends upward from the side wall 11 of the lower housing 10 and its upper end is a free end, the fixing element 12 can be elastic to provide deformation by selecting the material. In this embodiment, the body 121 has a flat plate shape, with the first surface 1211 facing the interior of the lower housing 10 and the second surface 1212 facing the exterior of the lower housing 10. Therefore, a first deformation D1 towards the first surface 1211 and a second deformation D2 towards the second surface 1212 can be formed.

[0040] When assembling assembly structure 1, firstly, the intermediate component 20 is assembled to the lower housing 10 by engaging with the first engaging protrusion 122; then, the upper housing 30 is assembled to the lower housing 10 by engaging with the second engaging protrusion 123. That is, when assembling assembly structure 1, the intermediate component 20 and the upper housing 30 are simultaneously fixed to the lower housing 10 by the fixing element 12. On the other hand, when disassembling assembly structure 1, firstly, the upper housing 30 is separated from the lower housing 10 by releasing the engagement with the second engaging protrusion 123; then, the intermediate component 20 is separated from the lower housing 10 by releasing the engagement with the first engaging protrusion 122.

[0041] The detailed engagement and disengagement procedures between the intermediate component 20 and the lower housing 10 are shown in Figures 1 to 5When the intermediate component 20 is assembled to the lower housing 10, firstly, the intermediate component 20 is tilted so that the height of its edge 22 corresponding to the fixing element 12 in the Z-axis direction is higher than that of the other edge 21 opposite to the edge 22. Accordingly, the edge 21 can be inserted below the locking fastener 13 disposed on the lower housing 10 and positioned opposite to the fixing element 12, and thus be fixed by the locking fastener 13. Next, the edge 22 moves downward and slides over the first surface 1211 and the first engaging protrusion 122, thereby engaging below the first engaging protrusion 122. In this configuration, the intermediate component 20 can be assembled to the lower housing 10 by simultaneously engaging with the locking fastener 13 and the first engaging protrusion 122 of the fixing element 12.

[0042] When the edge 22 moves downward along the first surface 1211 and the first engaging protrusion 122, especially when it moves downward along the first engaging protrusion 122, the retaining element 12 can thus form a second deformation D2 by the thrust from the edge 22, to help the edge 22 pass through; afterwards, the retaining element 12 will return to its original position due to its own elasticity, thereby forming an engagement between the first engaging protrusion 122 and the edge 22. In order to facilitate the downward movement of the edge 22, the upper part of the first engaging protrusion 122 is formed with a first inclined surface 1221, and the first inclined surface 1221 extends from top to bottom in a direction that gradually moves toward the interior of the lower housing 10. Therefore, the downward movement of the edge 22 can be guided by the first inclined surface 1221, and the thrust used to cause the second deformation D2 can also be applied in a gradually increasing manner.

[0043] In one embodiment, the intermediate object 20 may further include a recess 221 formed at a position corresponding to the fixing element 12 on the edge 22. For example... Figure 5As shown, the recess 221 has a recess distance RH relative to the edge of the edge 22, and the first engaging protrusion 122 has a first protrusion distance H1 relative to the first surface 1211, with the recess distance RH being less than the first protrusion distance H1 of the first engaging protrusion 122. Accordingly, when the edge 22 moves downward along the fixing element 12 from top to bottom, the body 121 can naturally be accommodated in the recess 221. Then, since the recess distance RH is less than the first protrusion distance H1, the recess 221 abuts against the first inclined surface 1221 with the first engaging protrusion 122, and as the downward movement continues, a pushing force is applied to the first engaging protrusion 122, thereby causing a second deformation D2 to help the edge 22 pass through. Afterward, after the downward movement is completed, also because the recess distance RH is less than the first protrusion distance H1, the first engaging protrusion 122 can still achieve the effect of fixing the intermediate object 20. The advantage of providing the recess 221 is that the downward movement of the intermediate object 20 can be achieved with a small second deformation D2, which reduces the limitation on the elasticity of the material and thus increases the material selectivity of the fixing element 12. In other embodiments, the second deformation D2 can also be formed by applying additional external force to the fixing element 12, for example by manually bending the fixing element 12, to help achieve the downward movement of the intermediate object 20. Therefore, there are no limitations, and it can be changed according to actual needs.

[0044] On the other hand, the design of the fixing element 12 also facilitates the disassembly of the intermediate object 20 from the lower housing 10. To separate the intermediate object 20 from the lower housing 10, firstly, an external force is applied to bend the fixing element 12 to form a second deformation D2, for example, by manually bending the fixing element 12 to release the engagement between the first engaging protrusion 122 and the edge 22. In this case, the edge 22 is no longer fixed by the first engaging protrusion 122, and the path for the edge 22 to move upward is exposed. Therefore, the intermediate object 20 can be easily removed from the lower housing 10 by lifting the edge 22 and allowing the edge 21 to slide out of the locking fastener 13. That is, the intermediate object 20 can be separated from the lower housing 10 in an inclined state. After the intermediate object 20 is removed, the fixing element 12 returns to its original position due to its own elasticity.

[0045] Therefore, the intermediate object 20 can be directly fixed to the lower housing 10 via a part of the lower housing 10 by means of the fixing element 12, without the need for any separate components, such as screws, and the engagement and disassembly of the intermediate object 20 and the lower housing 10 can be easily achieved without the use of tools.

[0046] The detailed engagement and disengagement procedures between the upper housing 30 and the lower housing 10 are shown in Figures 1 to 2 and Figures 6 to 7After the intermediate component 20 is assembled, the assembly of the upper housing 30 continues. During assembly, the upper housing 30 moves downward in a state approximately parallel to the lower housing 10, so that the side walls 31 and 32 on opposite sides of the upper housing 30 engage with the engaging members 15 and fixing elements 12 located on opposite sides of the lower housing 10, respectively. A third engaging protrusion 322 is formed on the inner surface of the side wall 32 to correspond to and engage with the second engaging protrusion 123 of the fixing element 12, while another engaging member (not shown) corresponding to the engaging member 15 is formed on the inner surface of the side wall 31. Accordingly, the upper housing 30 can be stably fixed to the top of the lower housing 10.

[0047] When the upper housing 30 moves downward, a thrust from the third engaging protrusion 322 is applied to the second engaging protrusion 123, causing the fixing element 12 to undergo a first deformation D1 to facilitate the passage of the third engaging protrusion 322. The third engaging protrusion 322 then continues to move downward until it engages below the second engaging protrusion 123. Afterward, the fixing element 12 returns to its original position due to its elasticity, thus achieving engagement between the second engaging protrusion 123 and the third engaging protrusion 322. To facilitate the downward movement of the upper housing 30, the upper part of the second engaging protrusion 123 is formed with a second inclined surface 1231, which extends from top to bottom in a direction gradually toward the outside of the lower housing 10. Therefore, the downward movement of the upper housing 30 can be guided by the second inclined surface 1231, and the thrust causing the first deformation D1 can be applied in a gradually increasing manner. Furthermore, the lower part of the third engaging protrusion 322 is formed to have a third inclined surface 3221, and the third inclined surface 3221 extends from top to bottom in a direction that gradually moves toward the outside of the lower housing 10, for example, corresponding to the second inclined surface 1231, to further help the upper housing 30 move downward smoothly.

[0048] On the other hand, the design of the fixing element 12 also facilitates the disassembly of the upper housing 30 and the lower housing 10. To separate the upper housing 30 and the lower housing 10, firstly, the side of the upper housing 30 with the sidewall 32 is manually lifted; that is, the side of the upper housing 30 that engages with the second engaging protrusion 123 is lifted, causing the upper housing 30 to tilt. When the side with the sidewall 32 is lifted, the third engaging protrusion 322 is also lifted, thus applying an upward force to the second engaging protrusion 123. At this time, as... Figure 7As shown, the upward force from the third engaging protrusion 322 is applied only to the side of the fixing element 12 adjacent to the side wall 32. On the other side of the fixing element 12, a gap T between the first engaging protrusion 122 and the intermediate object 20 provides the space required for the fixing element 12 to bend, thus forming a first deformation D1. In this case, as the side with the side wall 32 is gradually lifted, the first deformation D1 gradually increases, eventually reaching a position where the engagement between the third engaging protrusion 322 and the second engaging protrusion 123 can be released. After the third engaging protrusion 322 and the second engaging protrusion 123 are released, the opposite side wall 31 can then release its engagement with the engaging member 15, thus completing the disassembly procedure between the upper housing 30 and the lower housing 10.

[0049] In one embodiment, to facilitate the disassembly process between the third engaging protrusion 322 and the second engaging protrusion 123, the third protrusion distance H3 of the third engaging protrusion 322 relative to the inner surface of the sidewall 32 is made smaller than the second protrusion distance H2 of the second engaging protrusion 123 relative to the second surface 1212. Accordingly, the upward thrust generated by lifting the side of the upper housing 30 with the sidewall 32 will be applied to the second engaging protrusion 123 closer to the sidewall 32, thus making it easier to lift the side of the upper housing 30 with the sidewall 32; in addition, since the overlap area between the second engaging protrusion 123 and the third engaging protrusion 322 is smaller, the amount of the first deformation D1 required to reach the disengagement position can be reduced.

[0050] Furthermore, advantageously, the first deformation D1 formed when the upper housing 30 is separated can further apply a fixing force to the edge 22 of the intermediate object 20 via the first engaging protrusion 122 when the fixing element 12 bends towards the first surface 1211 to reduce the gap T. In other words, the greater the force applied to the second engaging protrusion 123, the greater the fixing force of the first engaging protrusion 122 on the intermediate object 20. Therefore, the engagement between the intermediate object 20 and the lower housing 10 is not only unaffected by the disassembly of the upper housing 30 and the lower housing 10, but is also thus secured.

[0051] Therefore, the upper housing 30 can be directly fixed to the lower housing 10 by means of the fixing element 12, which is also used to fix the intermediate object 20. The engagement and disengagement between the upper housing 30 and the lower housing 10 can be easily achieved without damaging the upper housing and / or using tools.

[0052] In summary, through the structural design of the dual-function fixing element 12 in the embodiments of the present invention, the upper housing can be easily removed from the lower housing after assembly, which facilitates the maintenance of intermediate components in the assembly structure. Furthermore, since both the intermediate components and the upper housing in the assembly structure can be simultaneously fixed by a single dual-function fixing element, space is saved and manufacturing costs are reduced. Accordingly, the assembly structure using the dual-function fixing element allows for space-saving and stable assembly, while also enabling convenient disassembly without compromising the integrity of the housing.

[0053] It should be noted that the above are merely preferred embodiments for illustrating the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to the described embodiments. The scope of the present invention is determined by the appended claims. Furthermore, those skilled in the art may make various modifications according to their ingenuity, but all such modifications will not depart from the protection sought by the appended claims.
