Note that the exemplary embodiments of this disclosure are equally applicable to other resources in other domains.
[0027] Figure 1 A schematic diagram of an example communication environment 100 in which exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented is shown. In the communication environment 100, multiple communication devices, including terminal device 110 and network device 120, can communicate with each other.
[0028] exist Figure 1 In the example, terminal device 110 may be a UE, and network device 120 may be a base station serving the UE. Network device 120 operates in a radio access network (RAN) and is therefore also referred to as a RAN network device.
[0029] It should be understood that Figure 1The number of devices and their connections shown are for illustrative purposes only and do not imply any limitation. Communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of devices configured to implement the exemplary embodiments of this disclosure.
[0030] In the following description, for illustrative purposes, some example embodiments are described in which terminal device 110 operates as a UE and network device 120 operates as a base station (e.g., gNB). However, in some example embodiments, the operations described in connection with the terminal device can be implemented at the network device or other devices, and the operations described in connection with the network device can be implemented at the terminal device or other devices.
[0031] In some example embodiments, the communication direction from network device 120 to terminal device 110 is referred to as downlink (DL), and the communication direction from terminal device 110 to network device 120 is referred to as uplink (UL). In DL, network device 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or transmitter), and terminal device 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or receiver). In UL, terminal device 110 is a TX device (or transmitter), and network device 120 is an RX device (or receiver).
[0032] Communication in communication environment 100 can be implemented according to any and more suitable communication protocols, including but not limited to cellular communication protocols, wireless local area network communication protocols (such as IEEE 802.11), and / or any other currently known or future-developed protocols. Furthermore, communication can utilize any suitable wireless communication technology, including but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Frequency Division Duplex (FDD), Time Division Duplex (TDD), Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), Discrete Fourier Transform Spread Spectrum (DFT-s-OFDM), and / or any other currently known or future-developed technologies.
[0033] There are codebook-based CB schemes and non-codebook-based NCB schemes for MIMO precoding in UL. The NCB scheme eliminates the need for the UE to directly indicate the selected precoding matrix to the gNB. This allows for the use of more complex precoders, which theoretically can provide better performance than codebook-based precoders.
[0034] Figure 2 Schematic diagram 200 illustrates codebook-based UL MIMO transmission and non-codebook-based UL MIMO transmission. (As shown...) Figure 2As shown in the diagram, schematic 200 involves UE 210 and gNB 220. For codebook-based UL MIMO (CB UL MIMO) transmission, UE 210 can transmit a non-precoded sounding reference signal (SRS) to gNB 220 through all antenna ports. Upon receiving the SRS, gNB 220 can estimate the UL channel conditions and select the preferred SRS resource indicator (SRI), the transmitted precoding matrix indicator (TPMI), and the modulation and coding scheme (MCS). gNB 220 can then transmit the selected TPMI, MCS, or SRI (included in the downlink control information (DCI)) to UE 210. UE 210 can receive DCI and transmit data on the precoded physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) by utilizing the TPMI and port indicated in the SRI. For non-codebook-based UL MIMO (NCB UL MIMO) transmission, gNB 220 can transmit a non-precoded associated channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) to UE 210. UE 210 can estimate the UL channel based on the received CSI RS and transmit precoded SRS on the indicated antenna panel or port. gNB 220 can receive the precoded SRS and estimate the UL channel quality based on the precoded SRS. Then, gNB 220 can send DCI (including SRI and / or MCS) to UE 210, indicating to UE 210 which SRI or antenna panel or port is used for data transmission. UE 210 can receive the DCI and transmit data on the precoded PUSCH using the indicated SRI with precoded weights for the SRS.
[0035] In communication, the UE can be configured with several SRS resource sets by the gNB via higher-layer signaling (e.g., Radio Resource Control (RRC)). Each SRS resource set can contain several parameters, including a unique identifier (ID) for the SRS resource set, the IDs of the SRS resources in the SRS resource set, and the SRS usage (e.g., "codebook" or "non-codebook"). The temporal behavior of the SRS resource set can be periodic, aperiodic, or semi-persistent. For a given temporal behavior, one SRS resource set with usage parameters set to codebook or non-codebook can be configured for each bandwidth portion (BWP) in the cell. When the higher-layer parameters are set to non-codebook, up to four SRS resources can be configured in the SRS resource set. When the higher-layer parameters are set to codebook, up to two SRS resources can be configured in the SRS resource set.
[0036] Transmission of SRS resources with various time-domain behaviors can occur in the following scenarios: Aperiodic SRS resource sets can be mapped to an aperiodic trigger state "z" and can be transmitted when the UE receives the bit index "z" in the SRS request field of the DCI. Semi-persistent SRS resource sets can be transmitted when activated by a higher-layer Media Access Control (MAC CE) command. Periodic SRS resource sets can be transmitted without triggering or activation from the gNB.
[0037] In the NCB-UL-MIMO scheme, the downlink CSI can first be obtained or estimated at the UE from the downlink CSI-RS transmitted by the gNB. Subsequently, the uplink CSI can be derived from the estimated DL CSI by utilizing UL-DL channel reciprocity. The UL precoding matrix can be determined by the UE based on the obtained UL CSI and the algorithm used (e.g., singular value decomposition (SVD)), which is typically unknown to the network.
[0038] SRS can be used by the gNB for various purposes. For example, for channel-aware scheduling and link adaptation, SRS can be used to select the MCS. For CB-based UL MIMO transmissions, non-precoded SRS can be used to enable the gNB to estimate the UL channel quality and select the UL precoding matrix (indicated by TPMI), UE antenna panel or port (indicated by SRI), and power control parameters. For NCB-based UL MIMO transmissions, precoded SRS can be used to enable the gNB to estimate the quality of the UL precoded channel, select the number of MIMO layers the UE should use (i.e., transmission rank), and indicate to the UE which layers should be used to obtain the preferred rank. For SRS-based DL MIMO transmissions, non-precoded SRS can be used to estimate the DL channel quality based on UL-DL channel reciprocity and derive the precoding matrix for PDSCH transmission at the gNB.
[0039] In the traditional NCB scheme, the UE can determine the precoding matrix for the number of independent MIMO streams or layers based on the estimated CSI. However, it may still be necessary to send SRS to the gNB, as the gNB may need to select the transport rank and MCS for PUSCH transmission.
[0040] However, as the number of antennas or antenna ports on the UE side increases, transmitting the entire group of SRS can be expensive (roughly speaking, it requires transmitting one SRS per antenna port).
[0041] Wideband SRS transmission can lead to high UL overhead, increased power consumption at the UE, and increased interference due to pilot pollution. In high-mobility scenarios where channel aging occurs, the accuracy of CSI obtained via SRS may be significantly reduced and become invalid.
[0042] Furthermore, optimizing the dynamic SRS configuration for cross-frequency division duplex (FDD) or time division duplex (TDD) systems can remain complex. Additionally, the SRS may have limited coverage. Since the SRS can be used for multiple purposes, including DL precoding, and UL resources may be limited, the SRS used for DL MIMO precoding can often be prioritized over the SRS used for UL MIMO, potentially leading to UL performance degradation.
[0043] Skipping SRS transmissions for NCB-based UL MIMO precoding can result in significant savings in SRS overhead, thereby conserving UE transmission power and battery, as well as network resources required for SRS transmission, and leading to less interference in UL environments. However, due to insufficient information about the environment, there may be conditions where skipping SRS transmissions could result in throughput loss.
[0044] Embodiments of this disclosure provide a solution for conditional skipping of SRS transmissions, which allows a network device to decide whether to trigger an SRS transmission. The terminal device transmits predicted transmission information for uplink data transmission to the network device, the predicted transmission information indicating at least one of SRI or MCS. The terminal device receives from the network device an indication of whether to transmit SRS on one or more SRS resources or to skip the SRS transmission. The terminal device then performs the transmission to the network device based on the received indication.
[0045] In this way, by providing network devices with predicted SRIs and / or MCSs, end devices can be configured not to transmit SRSs prior to each uplink data transmission. Based on the predicted information received from the end devices, network devices can assume that a single SRS resource set transmission remains valid for a specific period, allowing network devices to allocate additional uplink resources without triggering SRS transmissions. This can thereby enhance uplink spectral efficiency, reduce interference, mitigate pilot pollution, and improve perceived UL throughput.
[0046] The exemplary embodiments of this disclosure will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0047] Figure 3 An example signaling flow 300 for conditional skipping of SRS transmissions according to some example embodiments of this disclosure is shown. Reference will be made to this example for discussion purposes. Figure 1 Discuss signaling flow 300. For example... Figure 3As shown, signaling flow 300 involves terminal device 110 and network device 120. In some example embodiments, terminal device 110 may be a UE or may be included in a UE. Network device 120 may be or may be included in a gNB / 6G base station.
[0048] Terminal device 110 transmits (301) predicted transmission information for uplink data transmission to network device 120. The predicted transmission information indicates at least one of SRI or MCS for uplink data transmission. SRI may indicate the predicted transmission rank of the uplink data. In an example embodiment of this disclosure, terminal device 110 is proposed to predict and transmit SRI and / or MCS for network device 120. MCS may define a modulation technique such as Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK), 64 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM), or 16-QAM, and a coding rate that should be used for uplink data transmission.
[0049] In some example embodiments, the predicted transmission information may be included in the uplink control information (UCI). Terminal device 110 may determine the predicted transmission information and transmit it to network device 120 in the UCI. For example, terminal device 110 may determine the SRI (also known as UE_SRI) and / or MCS (also known as UE_MCS) and transmit the determined SRI and / or MCS to the network device in the UCI. For example, the SRI and MCS may be new parameters included in the UCI (referred to as UE_MCSRI).
[0050] Predicted transmission information (e.g., the UE_MCSRI field in UCI) may include a certain number of bits. In some cases, predicted transmission information may include a first number of bits indicating the index of the MCS selected from a predetermined MCS table and / or a second number of bits indicating the SRI. For example, the UE_MCSRI field may be an X-bit field. X may be determined based on parameters such as the number of MCSs included in the predetermined MCS table (denoted by M) and the transmission rank (corresponding to the SRI) such as the maximum transmission rank (denoted by R). In some cases, X may be a function of M and R, such as a logarithmic function of M and R. As an example, X may be... In other words, the UE_MCSRI field can be... Bit field. (Previous) Bits (i.e., the first number of bits) indicate the index (also known as the MCS index) of the MCS selected from the predetermined MCS table. Finally One bit (i.e., the second number of bits) can indicate SRI.
[0051] Alternatively, the predicted transmission information may include a third number of bits indicating a combination of the SRI and the index of an MCS selected from a subset of MCSs associated with the SRI. The MCS subset may be included in a predefined MCS table. For example, the UE_MCSRI field may be a Y-bit field. Y bits (i.e., the third number of bits) may correspond to an index from a table listing all feasible combinations of SRI and MCS indices. In some cases, Y may be determined based on parameters such as M, R, and the number of MCSs (denoted by M1) allocated for a specific transmission rank (e.g., rank 1). In other words, there may exist M1 MCSs (rank 1) suitable only for single-stream transmission. In some examples, Y may be determined based on M, R, and (M-M1). For example, Y may be a function of M, R, and (M-M1). As an example, Y may be a logarithmic function of M, R, and (M-M1). For example, Y may be... In other words, the UE_MCSRI field can be... Bit field. Note that this is because only a subset of the MCS (i.e., (M-M1) or (Multiple MCSs) can be used for rank selection, so Y can be less than X.
[0052] Network device 120 receives (303) predicted transmission information from terminal device 110. Upon receiving the predicted transmission information, network device 120 can decide whether to accept the received predicted transmission information, and based on this, network device 120 can also decide whether to transmit SRS or skip the transmission of SRS. Then, network device 120 transmits (305) an indication to terminal device 110, indicating whether to transmit SRS on one or more SRS resources or skip the transmission of SRS.
[0053] In some example embodiments, this indication may be included in the DCI. For example, the DCI may include a flag (a specific field within the DCI, which may be represented as a "Skip SRS" flag) to indicate whether SRS transmission should be carried on one or more SRS resources or whether SRS transmission should be skipped. In some examples, in addition to indicating whether SRS should be carried or skipped, the indication may also indicate whether at least one of SRI and MCS is acceptable for uplink data transmission.
[0054] In some cases, this indication can indicate one of the following: to skip the SRS transmission and accept the SRI and MCS for uplink data transmission, or to transmit the SRS on one or more SRS resources. For example, the skip SRS flag can be a 1-bit field in the DCI. The skip SRS flag can be set to 0 or 1, which indicates different operations to be performed by the terminal device 110. As an example, if the skip SRS flag is set to 1, the skip SRS flag can indicate that the SRS transmission is to be skipped, and the SRI and MCS are accepted for uplink data transmission. The terminal device 110 may not transmit the SRS to the network device 120 and use the SRI and MCS for uplink data transmission. If the skip SRS flag is set to 0, the skip SRS flag can indicate that the SRS is to be transmitted on one or more SRS resources. The terminal device 110 may transmit the SRS to the network device 120. The network device 120 can use the received SRS to determine the corresponding SRI and MCS for uplink data transmission.
[0055] In some cases, this indication can indicate one of the following: to skip the SRS transmission and accept the SRI and MCS for uplink data transmission; to skip the SRS transmission and accept the MCS for uplink data transmission; to skip the SRS transmission and accept the SRI for uplink data transmission; or to transmit SRS on one or more SRS resources. For example, the skip SRS flag can be a 2-bit field within the DCI. The skip SRS flag can be set to 00, 01, 10, or 11, which indicates different operations to be performed by the terminal device 110. As an example, if the skip SRS flag is set to 11, the skip SRS flag can indicate that the SRS transmission is to be skipped and the SRI and MCS for uplink data transmission are accepted. The terminal device 110 may not transmit SRS to the network device 120 and use the calculated MCS and SRI for uplink data transmission. If the skip SRS flag is set to 10, the skip SRS flag can indicate that the SRS transmission is to be skipped and the MCS is accepted for uplink data transmission. Terminal device 110 may choose not to transmit SRS to network device 120 and use the calculated MCS for uplink data transmission. If the Skip SRS flag is set to 01, the Skip SRS flag indicates that SRS transmission should be skipped and SRI should be accepted for uplink data transmission. Terminal device 110 may choose not to transmit SRS to network device 120 and use the calculated SRI for uplink data transmission. If the Skip SRS flag is set to 00, the Skip SRS flag indicates that SRS should be transmitted on one or more SRS resources. Terminal device 110 may transmit SRS to network device 120.
[0056] Terminal device 110 receives (307) an instruction from network device 120 and performs (309) a transmission to network device 120 based on the received instruction. In some example embodiments, terminal device 110 may perform different transmissions to network device 120 depending on the content of the instruction. Terminal device 110 may adapt its behavior based on whether the instruction instructs it to skip or transmit SRS.
[0057] In some cases, if the received indication is to skip the SRS transmission, the terminal device 110 may not transmit the SRS to the network device 120. The terminal device 110 may perform uplink data transmission to the network device. Uplink data transmission may be based on at least one of the SRI or MCS indicated in the predicted transmission information. In some examples, uplink data transmission may include a transmission on the PUSCH, which may carry uplink data to the network device 120. In this way, the terminal device 110 can utilize the predicted transmission information for efficient data transmission without additional SRS overhead.
[0058] Conversely, if the received indication calls for SRS transmission, terminal device 110 may transmit SRS to network device 120 on one or more SRS resources. Terminal device 110 may wait for network device 120 to further configure SRI and / or MCS for uplink data transmission. Network device 120 may estimate the uplink based on the received SRS and determine the SRI and / or MCS deemed appropriate for the current uplink conditions.
[0059] Network device 120 performs (311) receiving from terminal device 110 based on the transmitted instruction.
[0060] Depending on the instruction, network device 120 can perform different reception actions. For example, if the instruction instructs terminal device 110 to skip SRS, network device 120 can perform uplink data reception from terminal device 110 based on at least one of SRI or MCS predicted by terminal device 110 in the predicted transmission information. Alternatively, if the instruction instructs terminal device 110 to transmit SRS, network device 120 can receive SRS.
[0061] In some example embodiments, upon receiving an SRS from terminal device 110, network device 120 determines the SRI and MCS for uplink data transmission on its side and transmits the determined SRI and MCS to terminal device 110. For example, network device 120 may predict uplink channel conditions based on the received SRS and determine an appropriate SRI, such as a preferred transport rank and layer for uplink data transmission. Network device 120 may also estimate an appropriate MCS. Network device 120 may then transmit the determined SRI and MCS to terminal device 110 in a DCI. Terminal device 110 can then perform uplink data transmission to network device 120 using the SRI and / or MCS indicated in the DCI. For example, terminal device 110 may transmit data in a PUSCH using the SRI and MCS indicated in the received DCI.
[0062] In some example embodiments, terminal device 110 may transmit its capability information to network device 120 before transmitting the predicted transmission information to network device 120. The capability information may indicate support for the prediction of at least one of SRI or MCS. The transmission of capability information may occur in an RRC idle, inactive, or connected state, which is not limited in this disclosure. For example, during the RRC connection establishment process, terminal device 110 may indicate its predicted SRI and / or MCS capabilities to network device 120 in a capability message.
[0063] Network device 120 may transmit resource configuration to terminal device 110 to configure aperiodic transmission of one or more SRS resources. In some example embodiments, the resource configuration may indicate that one or more SRS resources are allocated for non-codebook-based uplink data transmission. In some example embodiments, the resource configuration may be included in RRC configuration information. For example, the periodicity of SRS transmission may be configured in the RRC configuration message via, for example, the SRS-ResourceSet or resourceType parameter, which may take values such as aperiodic, semi-persistent, or periodic. For example, network device 120 may receive capability information and configure associated CSI-RS and / or SRS resources for non-codebook-based uplink data transmission. Transmission of one or more SRS resources may be configured with an OnDemand parameter, such that network device 120 may trigger transmission of the SRS with the corresponding indication in DCI format 0_1.
[0064] In some example embodiments, terminal device 110 may rely on the reciprocity between the downlink and uplink channels to determine predicted transmission information (e.g., SRI and / or MCS) based on the estimated downlink channel information. In some cases, terminal device 110 may receive a DL reference signal from a network device. The DL reference signal may include a CSI-RS. By utilizing UL-DL reciprocity, terminal device 110 may estimate UL channel information (such as SRI and MCS) based on the DL reference signal. For example, terminal device 110 may receive a CSI RS from network device 120 and determine the DL channel estimate based on the CSI RS. Then, terminal device 110 can determine the UL channel estimate (e.g., the UL channel matrix) by utilizing UL-DL channel reciprocity. Terminal device 110 can predict the SRI and MCS for UL data transmission based on UL channel estimation. Terminal device 110 can derive the SRI and MCS for UL data transmission using various methods, which will be referred to below. Figure 4-6 Provide a detailed description.
[0065] In embodiments of this disclosure, terminal device 110 can determine predicted transmission information using artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI / ML) models. Figure 4 Example signaling flows demonstrating conditional skipping of SRS transmissions based on AI / ML models according to some exemplary embodiments of this disclosure are shown. Reference will be made to these examples for discussion purposes. Figure 1 Discuss signaling flow 400. For example... Figure 4 As shown, signaling flow 400 involves terminal device 110 and network device 120. In some example embodiments, terminal device 110 may be a UE or may be included in a UE. Network device 120 may include a gNB / 6G base station.
[0066] Terminal device 110 uses an AI / ML model to determine predicted transmission information and a confidence level indication of the predicted transmission information for uplink data transmission. Terminal device 110 may be equipped with an AI / ML model capable of predicting predicted transmission information for uplink data transmission. For example, terminal device 110 may be equipped with one or more AI / ML regression models capable of predicting SRI and MCS for an upcoming PUSCH transmission.
[0067] Terminal device 110 transmits (403) predicted transmission information and a confidence level indication to network device 120. In some example embodiments, the confidence level indication may be used to indicate the accuracy or uncertainty of the predicted transmission information. For example, the confidence level indication may include a confidence level value or a confidence level score. It reflects the probability that the predicted transmission information is correct. Network device 120 receives (405) the predicted transmission information and confidence level indication from terminal device 110.
[0068] To make an informed decision, network device 120 can determine whether to accept or reject predicted transmission information based on a confidence level indication. Network device 120 can also base its decision on a confidence level score. Different strategies are used to make decisions. In some cases, network device 120 can compare a confidence value with a confidence threshold. If the confidence value is lower than the confidence threshold, network device 120 can determine that the predicted transmission information is accepted for uplink data transmission. If the confidence value is higher than the confidence threshold, network device 120 can determine that the predicted transmission information is rejected for uplink data transmission. For example, network device 120 can use the received confidence value... With the predetermined threshold Compare. If If the network device 120 receives the predicted transmission information, it can accept it. Otherwise, it can reject the predicted transmission information.
[0069] In some cases, network device 120 can determine whether a predicted transmission message is accepted or rejected based on at least one of the following: the SRI indicated in the predicted transmission message, the MCS indicated in the predicted transmission message, or the Buffer Status Report (BSR) of terminal device 110. For example, network device 120 can utilize a contextual bandit framework. By utilizing the contextual bandit framework, network device 120 can discover the optimal strategy regarding the available context, i.e., a set of values, including but not limited to... BSR, SRI and MCS indicated in the predicted transmission information.
[0070] Network device 120 transmits (407) an indication to terminal device 110, indicating whether to accept or reject predicted transmission information for uplink data transmission. Terminal device 110 receives (409) an indication from network device 120. In some example embodiments, depending on the content of the indication, terminal device 110 may perform different transmissions to network device 120. Accordingly, network device 120 may perform different receptions.
[0071] In some cases, if the indication indicates that the predicted transmission information is accepted, terminal device 110 may perform uplink data transmission to the network device based on at least one of the SRI or MCS indicated in the predicted transmission information. Network device 120 may perform uplink data reception from terminal device 110 based on at least one of the SRI or MCS. In some cases, if the indication indicates that the predicted transmission information is rejected, terminal device 110 may transmit SRS to the network device on one or more SRS resources. Network device 120 may receive SRS from terminal device 110.
[0072] In some example embodiments, the AI / ML model may be pre-trained and downloaded by terminal device 110 from a recommended or approved source. The AI / ML model can be obtained by updating the initial AI / ML model based on estimated uplink channel information and at least one of sample SRI or sample MCS received from network device 120. The initial AI / ML model can be trained online or offline, which is not limited in this disclosure. The estimated uplink channel information can be determined based on downlink channel information such as CSI-RS. In some cases, terminal device 110 may receive uncoded CSI-RS from network device 120 and determine the estimated uplink channel information based on measurements of the uncoded CSI-RS.
[0073] Sample SRIs and sample MCSs can be received by terminal device 110 from network device 120. In some cases, terminal device 110 can transmit precoded SRSs to network device 120 on one or more SRS resources and receive at least one of sample SRIs or sample MCSs from network device 120. For example, if the SRI and MCS are rejected by network device 120, terminal device 110 can transmit precoded SRSs to network device 120. Network device 120 can determine the SRI and MCS based on the precoded SRSs and transmit the SRI and MCSs to terminal device 110. Terminal device 110 can then store the received SRIs and MCSs as samples in a dataset for training an AI / ML model.
[0074] In some example embodiments, the inputs and outputs of the AI / ML model can be preprocessed and / or post-processed to meet the requirements of the AI / ML model in use. The post-processed (optional) output values of the AI / ML model can be adapted to SRI and MCS indicators. The pre-processed (optional) input values can correspond to... and / or A list of channel matrices, including time labels. Indicates the absolute or relative time instance when generating the corresponding matrix. Preprocessing steps for the input values may include parameters. This indicates the number of channel matrices that are sorted relative to their time labels and used simultaneously for preprocessing. In some cases, the loss function of the AI / ML model may include, but is not limited to, mean squared error (MSE) (also known as the L2 norm), root mean square error (RMSE), Huber loss, or quantile loss.
[0075] The dataset used to train the AI / ML model can be collected by the terminal device 110 without being shared with the network device 120. In this way, no signaling overhead is introduced to collect the training dataset. Figure 5A A schematic diagram 500A illustrates an example transfer learning framework for AI / ML models according to some example embodiments of this disclosure. For example... Figure 5A As shown, process 500A involves UE 510 and network 520. UE 510 can be... Figure 1 Example of terminal device 110, and network 520 can be Figure 1 Example of network device 120.
[0076] At position 501, UE 510 acquires the model. For example, the model This can be a pre-trained model or an initial model used to train AI / ML models. In 503A, gNB 520 sends uncoded CSI-RS to UE 510. UE 510 stores the uncoded CSI-RS. (At 505 A). At 507 A, UE 510 sends the precoded SRS to gNB 520. gNB 520 sends the DCI with SRI and MCS to UE 510 (at 509 A). At 511 A, UE 510 stores the SRI. And store MCS Similarly, at 503B, gNB 520 sends uncoded CSI-RS to UE 510. UE 510 stores the uncoded CSI-RS. (At 505 B). And store MCS UE 510 can generate batch samples and then update the model based on the batch samples. At 513, gNB 520 can send unprecoded CSI-RS to UE 510. UE 510 can send predicted SRI (UE_SRI) and MCS (UE_MCS) to gNB 520 (at 515). Figure 5A The transfer learning framework in UE 510 allows transfer learning to improve the predictions of pre-trained AI / ML models. UE 510 can download pre-trained AI / ML models from approved sources and calibrate or improve their predictions using single or multi-step training with cell-specific data.
[0077] Figure 5B A schematic diagram of the overall data processing and training process 500B for an AI / ML model according to some example embodiments of this disclosure is shown. For example... Figure 5B As shown, the original data 550 is preprocessed (at 552) to obtain dataset 554. For example, the original data 550 may include... … CSI, SRI, and MCS can be interrelated. For example, they can be collected within the same time period T. The obtained dataset 554 was fed into a pre-trained regression AI / ML model 556 to obtain a trained AI / ML model. 558. For example, the raw data 550 can be processed by a preprocessing function to obtain the model input. x t = f(H CSI,t , …, H CSI,t-H ), where F() represents the preprocessing function. A pair of model inputs x t and model output y t = f(SRI t , MCS t ) These can be considered as training samples for the model. (AI / ML model) 558 can be applied to predict SRI and / or MCS for uplink channels based on downlink channel information.
[0078] In embodiments of this disclosure, terminal device 110 may determine predicted transmission information based on analysis of estimated uplink channel information. Figure 6 An example signaling flow 600 of conditional skipping of SRS transmissions based on analysis of estimated uplink channel information, according to some example embodiments of this disclosure, is shown. For discussion purposes, reference will be made to... Figure 1 Discuss signaling flow 600. For example... Figure 6 As shown, signaling flow 600 involves terminal device 110 and network device 120. In some example embodiments, terminal device 110 may be a UE or may be included in a UE. Network device 120 may include a gNB / 6G base station.
[0079] Terminal device 110 determines (601) predicted transmission information for uplink data transmission based on analysis of the estimated uplink channel information. In some example embodiments, as described above, the estimated uplink channel information can be determined based on downlink channel information received from network device 120 (e.g., CSI RS transmitted by network device 120). Terminal device 110 can receive uncoded CSI-RS from network device 120 and determine the estimated uplink channel information based on the received uncoded CSI-RS.
[0080] In some example embodiments, the estimated uplink channel information may include an estimated uplink channel matrix. Terminal device 110 may determine the predicted transmission information based on a corresponding operation on the estimated uplink channel matrix. For example, the corresponding operation may be Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), Randomized SVD, Partial Least Squares (PLS), etc., which are not limited to this disclosure. In some cases, terminal device 110 may perform SVD on the estimated uplink channel matrix and determine at least one singular value of the estimated uplink channel matrix. Terminal device 110 may determine at least one of SRI or MCS based on at least one singular value.
[0081] In some example embodiments, network device 120 may transmit information to terminal device 110 indicating a threshold for determining SRI. The threshold may be determined at the network device 120 side. For example, network device 120 may determine the threshold based on at least one of the following: the channel conditions of the terminal device, the interference level of the terminal device, or the load of network device 120.
[0082] Terminal device 110 can receive this information and determine the SRI for the uplink based on a threshold. In some cases, terminal device 110 can compare at least one singular value with a threshold and determine one or more singular values that are higher than the threshold. Terminal device 110 can determine the SRI based on the number of one or more singular values. For example, terminal device 110 can compare at least one singular value with a threshold. A comparison is made to identify the number of singular values that exceed the threshold. Terminal device 110 can then base its analysis on values exceeding the threshold. The number of singular values determines the transmission rank (corresponding to SRI). In some example embodiments, a threshold is used. The value can be derived by the network device 120 during the initialization phase based on some parameters (e.g., channel conditions, interference level, network load, etc.) or implementation mechanism.
[0083] In some example embodiments, there may be different ways to determine the MCS based on estimated uplink channel information. For example, terminal device 110 may determine channel quality information (CQI) based on DL channel information and interference level. The predicted CQI can be matched with the corresponding MCS. Terminal device 110 may determine the MCS for uplink based on the predicted CQI.
[0084] Terminal device 110 transmits (603) the predicted transmission information to network device 120. Network device 120 receives (605) the predicted transmission information from terminal device 110. Steps 603 and 605 can be similar to... Figure 3 Steps 301 and 303 are described above. For details, please refer to the description above, which will not be repeated here.
[0085] Network device 120 transmits an indication (607) to terminal device 110, indicating whether to accept or reject predicted transmission information for uplink data transmission. Terminal device 110 receives an indication (609) from network device 120. Steps 607 and 609 can be similar to... Figure 4 Steps 407 and 409 in the above text are for reference. For details, please refer to the description above, which will not be repeated here.
[0086] In the exemplary embodiments of this disclosure, a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) can be used as a substitute for SRS. A one-to-one mapping can exist between a specific SRS resource and a specific DMRS; that is, precoding applied to an SRS resource can also be applied to the corresponding DMRS. If terminal device 110 transmits a PUSCH with DMRS at the maximum layer number, the DMRS can provide the same information as a set of SRS resources. However, if the transmission rank decreases so that terminal device 110 no longer transmits at the maximum layer number, the number of DMRSs can be reduced, and network device 120 may no longer be able to track the performance of all precoded weights. In this case, network device 120 can trigger SRS transmission to obtain visibility of all precoded weights.
[0087] Unlike codebook-based uplink transmissions (e.g., CB-based UL-MIMO), SRS can be transmitted by terminal device 110 and used by network device 120 for functions such as uplink channel estimation (and subsequently TPMI signaling, transmission rank setting, or MCS evaluation to the terminal device). In non-codebook-based uplink transmissions, UL channel estimation and TPMI signaling may not be necessary because uplink channel estimation can be obtained on the terminal device 110 side based on DL CSI-RS and by utilizing UL-DL reciprocity.
[0088] In the example embodiments of this disclosure, if the UL channel conditions and the orientation of terminal device 110 relative to network device 120 change rapidly, SRS transmission can be skipped. Terminal device 110 can predict these values and send them as UE_MCSRI to the gNB, instead of relying on an SRS-based scheme and receiving the SRI and MCS from network device 120. Network device 120 can then decide whether to accept or reject the parameters suggested by terminal device 110. For some channel and environmental conditions, the predictions made by terminal device 110 (i.e., the predicted transmission information) can be more reliable than those of other terminal devices.
[0089] Figure 7 The signaling flow of an example procedure 700 for non-codebook-based uplink MIMO communication according to some example embodiments of this disclosure is shown. Figure 7 As shown, process 700 involves UE 710 and network 720. UE 710 can be... Figure 1 Example of terminal device 110, and network 720 can be Figure 1 Example of network device 120. Process 700 can be an example of signaling flow 300, signaling flow 400, or signaling flow 600.
[0090] In some cases, during the RRC connection establishment process, the UE 710 can indicate to the gNB 720 its ability to predict SRI and MCS. When the UE 710 is in an RRC connected state, the gNB 720 can configure (701) the corresponding resources (also known as the conditional SRS feature) for conditional skip configuration of SRS transmission.
[0091] At position 703, gNB 720 sends uncoded CSI-RS to UE 710. UE 710 receives the uncoded CSI-RS and predicts the SRI and MCS. Additionally, for the predicted SRI and MCS, UE 710 can calculate the confidence scores for the predicted SRI and MCS. (At 705). At 707, UE 710 sends the predicted MCS and / or SRI (in the UE_MCSRI field) and (optionally) confidence indication to gNB 720 in the UCI. The gNB 720 receives MCS and / or SRI or confidence level indication. And decide whether to accept or reject MCS and SRI (709).
[0092] If gNB 720 accepts MCS and / or SRI, operations 710 A and 713 A can be performed. gNB 720 can send (710A) a DCI with a new skip SRS flag to UE 710 to indicate to the UE that it is permitted to use its predicted SRI and / or MCS for PUSCH transmission. UE 710 can receive the DCI and then send (713A) uplink data in the PUSCH based on the information provided in the DCI. For example, if the DCI includes the skip SRS flag, UE 710 can use SRI and / or MCS for data transmission. In this way, SRS is not sent, and therefore UL overhead is reduced.
[0093] If gNB 720 rejects the MCS and / or SRI, operations 710 B, 713 B, 715 B, and 717 B can be performed. At 710 B, gNB 720 can send an SRS request to UE 710 in the DCI. For example, the SRS request can request UE 710 to send precoded SRS resources configured for non-codebook-based use. UE 710 can receive the SRS request and send the precoded SRS to gNB 720 (713B). gNB 720 can receive the precoded SRS, select a subset of SRIs to be fed back to UE 710 to indicate the preferred transport rank and layer, and estimate the MCS also included in the DCI used for scheduling PUSCH. gNB 720 can then send the selected SRIs and estimated MCS to UE 710 in the DCI (715B). UE 710 can receive SRI and MCS from gNB 720 and transmit data in PUSCH using the SRI and MCS indicated in the received DCI (717B).
