Vacuum cleaning system

Abstract

A vacuum cleaning system is provided. The vacuum cleaning system includes a vacuum cleaner and a docking station for docking the vacuum cleaner, the docking station including a recovery bin and a dust collection port; the dust collection port of the docking station is configured to dock with a dust discharge port of a dust collection device of the vacuum cleaner such that dirt in the dust collection device can be collected into the recovery bin of the docking station via the dust discharge port of the dust collection device; the docking station further includes a suction generator and a manifold assembly downstream of the suction generator, the manifold assembly configured to couple a downstream airflow of the suction generator to different airflow discharge ports of the docking station to selectively couple the downstream airflow of the suction generator to either an atmosphere outside of the docking station or to the vacuum cleaner; the docking station further includes an air valve associated with the manifold assembly, the air valve configured to selectively switch the airflow discharge ports of the docking station to thereby allow the airflow to be discharged to either the atmosphere outside of the docking station or to an interior of the vacuum cleaner.
