Centrifugal compressor housing, centrifugal compressor and turbomachine

Abstract

A centrifugal compressor casing, a centrifugal compressor, and a turbomachine are disclosed. The centrifugal compressor casing includes an inlet passage configured to receive an incoming fluid. The inlet passage has an inlet opening and defines a central axis. The centrifugal compressor casing further includes an impeller chamber in fluid communication with the inlet passage and configured to receive a compressor impeller. The centrifugal compressor casing includes an axially extending wall defining at least a portion of the inlet passage and at least a portion of the impeller chamber. The centrifugal compressor casing includes a recirculation passage defined between the axially extending wall and an outer wall of the casing. The centrifugal compressor casing includes an annular passageway extending through the axially extending wall. The annular passageway extends around the central axis. The annular passageway fluidly connects the impeller chamber to the recirculation passage. The annular passageway defines a first end opening and a second end opening. The first end opening is disposed radially inward of the second end opening. An axial width of the passageway converges from the first end opening. The recirculation passage fluidly connects the annular passageway and the inlet passage. The centrifugal compressor casing includes an outlet passage in fluid communication with the impeller chamber.
