Lubricating structure of internal combustion engine

Abstract

The lubrication structure of the internal combustion engine can ensure supply of lubricating oil to a sliding part of a valve and can inhibit aggravation of abrasion as much as possible. The lubrication structure of the internal combustion engine includes a camshaft supported by a camshaft housing and a cam cover; a valve member having a valve guide pipe supporting a valve opened and closed by a cam portion; lubricating oil supplied to the valve member; and an oil pump for supplying the lubricating oil. The oil pump supplies the lubricating oil to the valve guide pipe. An oil passage is formed on at least one of the camshaft housing and the cam cover. An outlet portion of the at least one oil passage is formed on a side surface portion of at least one of the camshaft housing and the cam cover parallel to a central axis of a cylinder. The lubricating oil scattered from the outlet portion is supplied to the valve guide pipe in a manner capable of being scattered downward of the cam portion.
