Abstract

An electrofusion fitting for connecting at least one pipe section installed at an insertion end thereof, the fitting comprising an inner sleeve made of thermoplastic material and comprising one or more resistance wires, wherein the resistance wires can be connected to an electrical power source to melt a surface of the inner sleeve against an external surface of at least one pipe section to create a welded joint; and an outer sleeve; wherein the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve in axial dimension have mechanical locking parts with at least one gap between the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve, which mesh with each other to transmit axial and / or tangential forces.
