Abstract

A method for extracting metal values ​​from a starting material using thiosulfate as a leaching agent. The metal values ​​can be recovered from the solution using a precipitant. The solution remaining after metal recovery can be treated with a calcium-containing material to remove sulfates. A portion of the remaining solution after metal recovery can be treated with a water treatment stage either before or after the addition of the calcium-containing material.
