Methods of using inhibitors of activin type II receptor signaling

Abstract

The invention describes methods for treating a transfusion-dependent subject suffering from myelofibrosis, a myelofibrosis-associated cytopenia such as anemia, thrombocytopenia, or neutropenia, or receiving treatment for cytopenia-associated myelofibrosis, by administering to the subject an inhibitor of activin receptor type II (ActRII) signaling, optionally in combination with treatment for cytopenia-associated myelofibrosis. The ActRII signaling inhibitor may be an ActRII ligand-binding antibody, an ActRII antibody, or an ActRII ligand trap.
