System, method and apparatus for detecting position in a core of medical devices

Abstract

A system, method, and apparatus are described for determining the positions of medical devices within a core, which comprises a plurality of devices linked together in a stacked configuration. A medical device core includes a connectivity apparatus communicatively coupled to a medical network and / or a monitoring device. Additionally, the medical device core includes one or more docking devices. Each docking device can accommodate two or more infusion pumps. The number of docking devices used in the medical device core depends on the number of infusion pumps required for a patient's treatment.The medical device core allows multiple docking units to be stacked as needed, while also enabling infusion pumps to operate independently and be removed from the core as required, even during uninterrupted treatment. This configuration provides a scalable, flexible, and adaptable system that integrates infusion pumps into a relatively small footprint.
