Treatment compositions that include functionalized particles

Abstract

The treatment compositions consist of a mixture of a corrosion inhibitor and functionalized particles in a solvent. The functionalized particles include both epoxy and amine groups. Surfaces coated with the treatment composition exhibit improved corrosion inhibition performance and / or a longer duration of corrosion inhibition performance against corrosives such as CO₂ and H₂S, compared to the corrosion inhibition performance of the same corrosion inhibitor coating without the functionalized particles. Coatings incorporating functionalized particles are effectively applied to one or more interior and / or exterior surfaces of containment, separators, conduits, and other equipment, such as well string completion components, that come into contact with fluids containing corrosives.
