Methods for calculating the amount of CSI and generating reports that allow CJT

Abstract

In one embodiment, a method is described for a user equipment (UE) device to calculate and report a channel state information (CSI) quantity for coherent joint transmission (CJT) on the downlink (DL) from a network node to the UE. The method may include receiving, from the network node, a downlink reference signal (DL-RS) configuration for a plurality of DL-RS resource sets, each comprising one or more DL-RS resources. The method may further include receiving, from the network node, a CSI reporting configuration of the CSI quantities to be reported, where the CSI quantities are associated with the plurality of DL-RS resource sets.The method may also include calculating the CSI magnitudes to be reported based on the plurality of DL-RS resource sets and reporting the calculated CSI magnitudes based on the CSI reporting configuration.
