Abstract

The present invention describes novel synthetic peptide entities that combat pathogenic microorganisms of bacterial nature, which are multidrug-resistant to conventional antibiotics. These entities also demonstrate that a rational, structure-based design allows for the acquisition of several beneficial activities within a single structure in an infectious environment, such as anti-LPS activity and modulation of inflammatory cytokines induced by lipopolysaccharides in a whole blood culture.
