Abstract

A method and system for determining the level of energy efficiency of a vehicle's driving, in which the following parameters are calculated by the control unit: an acceleration parameter dependent on engine consumption and longitudinal acceleration, a recuperation parameter dependent on the amount of recuperated energy and longitudinal acceleration, an air conditioning parameter dependent on air conditioning consumption and a terrain parameter dependent on the overcome elevation. A time monitored interval and predetermined reference values ​​are used to calculate the parameter values. From the calculated parameter values, the control unit determines the level of energy efficiency, which is displayed on the display device in the vehicle. Based on the level of energy efficiency, the control unit selects a recommendation for adjusting the driving style from a set of recommendations stored in memory. Based on the level of energy efficiency and the recommendation, the driving style of the vehicle is subsequently adjusted to increase the efficiency of its driving.
