An escapement with permanent magnets and a rotary pendulum

Abstract

The escapement with suspended rotary pendulum (5) uses the direct and exclusively repulsive magnetic interaction between the escapement wheel (1) and the anchor (7) of pendulum for the contactless impulse transmission. The solution eliminates mechanical contact, reduces energy losses, and thus enables manufacture of the clock with significantly longer running period.
