Abstract

Method comprising: selecting, at a transmitter, a specific transmission characteristic from a plurality of different transmission characteristics to provide a selected transmission characteristic; selecting, at the transmitter, a specific recovery identifier correlated with the selected transmission characteristic from a plurality of different recovery identifiers, wherein at least a subset of individual recovery identifiers correlates with a given corresponding plurality of different transmission characteristics; and transmitting a connected message from the transmitter, comprising a selected recovery identifier; and a message content;wherein sending the linked message comprises sending a plurality of discrete messages, wherein at least a part of the linked message, as comprising the message content, is sent using the selected transmission characteristic, and wherein the linked message is configured to allow a receiver to configure itself in response to receiving the linked message based on the selected transmission characteristic correlated with the recovery identifier, in order to allow the receiver to receive the message content of the linked message, wherein selecting the particular transmission characteristic comprises selecting the particular transmission characteristic based at least partially on at least a part of the message content.
