Abstract

Method for coating a fuel cell component (40) with a double layer, comprising: a) Contacting the fuel cell component (40) with a titanium oxide-containing liquid (44) to form a titanium oxide-containing layer (46) which adheres to the fuel cell component (40), and b) Contacting the fuel cell component with a silicon oxide-containing liquid (52) to form a silicon oxide-containing coating (54) which adheres to the titanium oxide-containing layer (46), wherein the titanium oxide-containing liquid (44) contains titanium oxide nanoparticles, wherein the titanium oxide nanoparticles have a size in the range of approximately 2 nm to approximately 100 nm.
